Chapter 2: Where There Is Darkness...

As the week went by, Rory continued going through the days with his mind still clouded from his uncle's beating. It was Friday and now the day was coming to an end with all the students leaving school. Rory was leaving school and decided to take a detour. The last thing he wanted to do was go back home with his Uncle. There would be no doubt that his Uncle was drinking again, so it was better to avoid any more trouble for one day. That was when he was bumped on the shoulder by a familiar face.
"Yo yo yo Rory! Whatcha up to?"
"Hey, Kohaku. Just strolling around the city a bit."
"Well if you're not busy, let's grab some takoyaki!"
"You and your love for Takoyakis."
"Well hell yeah! They are the greatest gift to ever be made on earth!"
Rory sighed but nodded as they made their way toward a food truck just down the road.

After getting two orders of takoyaki, Rory and Kohaku were talking about their day in school and how everything had gone.
"Has that bastard of a bully ever bothered you after that day?"
"No. I've been minding my own business for a time, but now that you mention it... I haven't seen any fights or similar activities to that."
"Hmm guess we scared them off."
Letting out a hardy laugh, Rory smirked and continued eating. Though in that moment someone had walked up to their table.
"Hey, guys. Sorry to bother you but I wanted to thank you guys for the other day."
"Oh shit it's you uh... Uhh, wait what was your name again?"
"It's Kaito."
"Ah Right! Kaito buddy... I've been meaning to ask you. What the heck did you do to get yourself involved with those guys?"
Kaito took a seat next to Rory, who was still eating away at his meal but listening to the conversation.

"Well I didn't do anything, but it seems they were trying to make us work for them by running errands. I'm not strong in the slightest, but I didn't stand for the bullying and defended myself. That created a target on my back from that point on. There was nothing I could do to stop them. Even my homeroom teacher didn't believe it."
"Well looks like they need to get a real beat down if they're going to learn."
Kaito turned to Rory.
"Thank you again for stepping in. I wasn't expecting anyone to come in and save me."
Rory looked at Kaito, still chewing his food.
"You're good don't sweat it."
"Yeah don't worry. If they bother you or anyone else again, we'll kick their asses."
Kohaku said proudly before sipping on his soda.
"I wouldn't try to do that. Kazan is a 3rd year that runs the group of strongest second years from each class. I found that out one day when I was being bullied by Fuyuhito. I think Kazan is trying to recruit the strongest or most capable individuals for his future agency."

Kohaku and Rory were surprised to hear that, but they knew they would have a lot to deal with if they jumped the gun right away. However, Kohaku was more than ready to take action.
"Well if they try to get me involved in their nonsense, I'll just have to use self-defense."
"Kohaku. Let's just move on from all of that. Thanks for the food, but I'm going to head home. You guys take care."
"Leaving already, Roro? Well if you aren't doing anything this weekend... let's hang out at the pc cafe. Always down to stay out of the house."
Rory turned to look at Kohaku and nodded.
"I'm down for it. I'll see you two around."
Turning back forward and walking off, Rory made his way back home.

After some time of walking Rory was standing in front of his house and can already hear his Uncle belligerently yelling. Letting out a deep sigh, he entered the building, slowly feeling dreadful anxiety overwhelming him.
"Rory! The f*ck are you doing so late home?! Why the hell are you not here with the goddamn groceries I told you to f*cking get?!"
Rory didn't respond. Feeling the inevitable coming, he braved himself. As his Uncle appeared right in front of him unleashing his slurred speech filled with rage.
"Why aren't you f*cking answering me!? You little shit!"
As his uncle's closed fist emerged in his line of sight, the sudden impact on Rory's cheek sent him crashing into the wall next to him before crashing to the floor. Trying to get up from the sudden attack, Rory was left stunned as he heard these words.
"Sick and tired of your useless *ss! The least your parents could have done was aborted you instead of leaving me with taking care of a waste of space in my life! They are a bunch of failures for even having you, and now they're f*cking dead because of you!"
