the whole village quiet and peaceful, waves gently smashing against the tree roots and stars in the night sky shining like small specks of light down at the many marui pods hanging above the water, a lean but muscular boy can be seen diving silently in the dark waters towards a dimly lit pod ahead.
waking up to droplets of water flying in his direction, neteyam hurriedly jumps into a sitting position, looking startled by this odd feeling of shock and drowsiness. now sitting on his sleeping mat and looking down to his side at the small gap in the thin wall from where he likes to watch the view before falling asleep, instead he notices a grinning blue-eyed boy.
"finally you woke up" the boy rolls his eyes comically, looking up at neteyam.
"ao'nung, what are you doing here?" neteyam hisses quietly, looking alarmingly around to make sure no one else woke up.
"you wanna sneak out?" ao'nung simpers while looking enticingly up at the boy. neteyam lowers his gaze, finding the boy's offer and facial expression quite tempting.
biting his cheek, he sighs. "ehh i don't know, my dad is gonna kill me if he sees i'm missing" neteyam says looking at the boy now rising slightly up from the water and leaning against his crossed forearms on the edge of the floor.
"c'mon, we never get to hang out alone because of the 'let's keep our relationship secret' thing you still insist on continuing" ao'nungs hopeful expression dropping he moves his gaze downwards to his fingers caressing neteyams hand supporting the boy leaning against it.
neteyam closes his eyes and points his face upwards, sighing again while the guilt rips his insides open once more. "okay i'll come" he mutters, looking back at ao'nung with a small smile rising to his lips when he sees his face light up. he did go through all the trouble of sneaking past his overbearing mother and swimming all the way here after all.
quietly slipping through the hole and into the water, neteyam dives behind ao'nung under the hut he was just peacefully sleeping in. grinning the whole time, ao'nung calls for his ilu swimming close by and gets on, waving for neteyam to get up behind him. quietly obeying his orders neteyam climbs behind ao'nung on top of the creature, clinging his hands shyly around the boy's slim waist.
really excited about his great plan working, ao'nung places his hand on top of neteyam's and starts riding his ilu forward towards the beach ahead. feeling the warm bodied boy slowly lean against his back ao'nung tenses up, his cheeks burning.
after arriving to their destination the two teens walk along the shoreline for quite a while, just talking and admiring the view, neteyam slowly calming down about the whole sneaking out thing with ao'nung cheering him up. "they're all sleeping, you really have nothing to worry about" he says airily looking at neteyam and sits down on a rock looking out to the softly glistening moonlit sea. neteyam settles down next to him, smiling lovingly at ao'nung and slipping an arm around his shoulder. how did he ever manage to enthrall that boy? eywa knows but he couldn't be happier to hold him in his arms.
noticing the teal boy after a while slowly drop his gaze to his lap, neteyam leans down to look at his all of a sudden gloomy face. "is everything okay?" he asks softly, gently rubbing ao'nungs shoulder. the boy just shrugs, snuggling closer to neteyam. "i don't know.." he murmurs faintly. "just wishing we could be like this more often".
the sharp shearing pain in his heart presenting itself again, neteyam feels the words get stuck in his throat. "..i know" he mutters in a low voice, taking a look at the sea. why did he have to be like this, no strong hunter or warrior would care what anyone thinks about him and who he happens to be attracted to.
"how aren't you scared what your parents will think? or your mom i mean, i know your dad supports you in pretty much everything you do" neteyam asks the question he has been wondering about for a while now, looking down at the boy now leaning his cheek on his shoulder.
"i don't know. i guess i just know that if her reaction happens to be negative in some way, she'll get it eventually and it's not like she could really keep us apart even if she wanted to" ao'nung tells him, not seeming too stressed about it.
"i'm just so scared of what dad will say.." neteyam whispers after a bit of silence and pulls his hand back onto his lap, feeling ao'nung turn his gaze towards him. "he's already disappointed in me for always getting myself into trouble, even if i try my best not to" he continues, looking down at his hands.
"i'm sure your dad will understand, he loves you after all" ao'nung says comfortingly, turning neteyams face gently towards him by his chin. "as do i" he smiles softly, gazing intently into the watery eyes of the boy infront of him before closing the distance..
their lips gently brushing together, the taste of neteyams falling tears and the overwhelming awareness of eachothers warm and inviting bodies carrying them on, the two infatuated beings kissed. caused by the soft, almost feather-light feeling of ao'nungs hand on his cheek, neteyam sighs faintly against the boy's lips, melting under his delicate touch. his body, mind and soul fighting against it, ao'nung breaks this exchange of fervour and carnality, slowly opening his lust filled eyes.
watching as the boy causing all these tenacious feelings of yearning looks at him with his tear-filled eyes, ao'nung smiles enrapturedly and wipes away his tears. "i'll tell him tomorrow.." neteyam assures ao'nung smiling slightly, soon finding himself in the boys embrace. after placing a small peck on neteyams head, the privately suprisingly mushy and lovey-dovey metkayina heir sighs elatedly. "don't worry about that right now, let's just enjoy tonight" he whispers and looks up to the ethereal combination of stars and planets in the sky above. neteyam moves his gaze up too, on the way taking a small but very happy and content look at the boy holding him.
