Xiara listened to the woman rant and rave in silence. She couldn't look at her straight on because she knew there was nothing she could do. This time, what she said wouldn't help. Xiara knows that what she did was wrong, so she can't help but feel bad about it.
"So, tell me, Mayenna. When did you start not telling me things? I worry so much about you. I've been waiting for you to text me or call me. What did I get, though?" Eunice says this while looking at Xiara with disgust.
Eunice walked back and forth a bit to get herself straight. Her voice made it clear that she cared a lot about Xiara. By the way she acts, it will be obvious right away that she cares about the girl. It shows that actions really do speak louder than words.
"Look, I-I'm sorry. I don't want to hide it from you. I-I'm going to tell you. I'm just waiting for the perfect timing. R-Relax, okay? I am completely fine, so stop freaking out and try to calm down," Xiara said softly.
Xiara got off the couch and walked slowly toward the woman in front of her. She immediately gave her a tight hug. Xiara understood that she was upset because Eunice was worried about her.
"You love me a lot, don't you? Next time, I'll tell you right away. But don't worry, as I've already said, I'm fine right now. Don't worry about anything. Come on, you don't believe me?" Xiara said reassuringly as she hugged the girl.
Eunice slowly started to feel better, and she quickly hugged Xiara back. She was so worried about her that she couldn't stop crying. She was afraid she would lose Xiara.
"When I heard that you were rushed to the hospital, I almost went crazy. I was in Cebu at the time, but I went straight home to see you. But when I got there, they told me you had left. I no longer know what to do, " she said softly while sobbing.
A few minutes later, Eunice pulled away from the hug on her own. She turned back to Xiara and looked at her with worry in her eyes.
"Even if I sulk with you, there is nothing I can do. So, no matter how stubborn you are, I will still understand you. You are the only best friend I have. We're against the rest of the world, right?" Eunice said, while smiling.
Xiara couldn't help but smile. She felt like she was one of the luckiest people in the world because she met the woman she was with today. The person who was always by her side never made her feel alone.
"I am too lucky to have you. Sometimes, I can't thank God enough for putting us together. Eunice, you were there for me all the time. Thank you," Xiara smiled and thanked her, then gave her another hug.
Before touching both of Xiara's cheeks, Eunice just laughed. She loves her friend so much that she treats her like a sister.
"How do you feel? Where did you stay the night before? You worry a lot about me. Didn't you care about me?" Eunice asked Xiara right away when she thought of it.
Xiara tried to act sad, but Eunice gave her a sharp look, so Xiara wrapped her arms around her friend right away. They went to the kitchen, and the girl did not make a mistake. There was food served as if waiting for her arrival.
"You're so nice! You know just what to do to make me happy, don't you? That's why you own me! Eunice, you are really the best! This feels like heaven. Gosh! There are all of my favorite foods here," Xiara said in surprise.
As Eunice watched her friend, she could only laugh. She is glad because Xiara is happy. Because of how things were, she couldn't help but feel sad. Xiara is too young to be in this situation.
"Eat everything. I really cooked for you, so you shouldn't have any food left over. Sit down and let me take care of you. What you want, I'll do. Suit yourself," Eunice said as she smiled at Xiara.
Eunice told Xiara to sit down, and she did so quickly. Eunice tries to be strong because she knows Xiara wouldn't like it if she was weak.
"What's holding you back? C'mon, let's eat. I can't finish all of it. Let's go. Let's get back to being together like we used to," Xiara reasoned, forcing Eunice to sit down.
They were enjoying their food when Xiara's cell phone, which was sitting on the table, suddenly rang. Xiara grabbed the phone quickly, but Eunice pulled her hand away right away. She looked at her with astonishment.
"Who is that? I know you, Xiara. Something is up to the way you look. I'm sure of that. Tell me. Who is it?" she asked her friend in surprise.
Xiara didn't answer what Eunice was asking her. She quickly pulled her hand back and managed to get it back. She immediately checked to see who sent the message.
"I thought you wouldn't keep secrets from me anymore? Xiara, this is not you. You have never broken your own promises before," Eunice said softly.
Xiara immediately read the text from her doctor. She has an appointment today, and she has to go to the hospital at 2 pm.
"This one, you really want to know who sent this, don't you? Here. Read as much as you want. I just looked because maybe it was just a random number that sent the message," Xiara explained after handing her cell phone to her friend.
Eunice didn't think twice and took the phone right away. She read the message quietly and then looked at the clock on the wall. When she saw that it was 1 o'clock in the afternoon, she got up.
"You 're way too late! Get going. You should arrive on time. Wait. Where's the key to your car? I will drive you to the hospital. It's embarrassing for your doctor if we're late," she said worriedly to Xiara.
Eunice immediately shook her head. She couldn't understand why Xiara was so calm, as if she had nothing important to go to. She didn't even worry that they might be late going to the hospital.
"Since my car isn't here, the keys aren't good for anything. Relax, Eunice. I know who my doctor is. He wouldn't be mad at me if I was late. Just chill out. Just let me finish what I'm eating," Xiara explained.
Eunice was shocked by what her friend told her. She wanted to ask her something, but Xiara started eating again. She waited until it was done before helping clean it up.
"I will do the washing. Just get dressed and take care of yourself. We'll just drive to the hospital in my car. Xiara, hurry up! It's 2 pm," Eunice insisted strongly, then took the plate and started washing it.
Xiara did nothing but move on to the next one. She ran into her room quickly to take a shower and change clothes. She left the room after only fifteen minutes.
"Let's go. I'm telling you, your doctor will scold you. You're late for your appointment. You really have a headache, Xiara!" Eunice exclaimed in disgust.
They ran to the parking lot in a hurry to get to Eunice's car. It wasn't hard for them to find because it was right in the beginning. Since her car wasn't there, Xiara didn't hesitate to get in the car.
"Relax, Eunice. Why does it look like you are the one who set up the meeting between us? We don't have to move fast. If the first thing happens, my doctor will understand," Xiara explained.
Eunice did not listen to her. She started driving the car as fast as she could so that they could get to the hospital immediately.
"I don't know what you're like. If that's what you want to think, I won't tell you that you're wrong. No matter what happens, as long as I take you to the hospital. Right now, the most important thing to us is your health," Eunice said clearly.
Xiara didn't answer, so her friend went away. She knew she had already decided, so she couldn't change her mind. It also makes sense. She has to be strong no matter what happens.
"Trust me. Everything is going to be fine. You have me. I won't leave you alone to fight. Together, we'll get through this," Eunice added, which made Xiara feel even better.
