(quick little note)
This part isn't relative to the actual story it's just a fun little New Years' Special and nothing else. :)
(Y/N POV)
"Amber come on! We're going to be late!" I shouted as I paced in front of Amber's door. I looked up at the window by Amber's room and saw her figure as she put on her top. Quickly I looked away as I felt my face grow a little warm.
"I'M COMING JUST GIVE ME A MINUTE!" Amber yelled from her window. I groaned to myself as I waited for her to get out. I could hear Amber rushing down the stairs and a few seconds later she burst out the door. "Sorry Y/N, I wanted to look good for the night, how do I look?" Amber asked me. I looked her up and down, she was wearing a white top that had red bunnies on it and a mid-length red skirt with gold and black embroidery on the ends, and her hair was tied into a low ponytail instead of her usual bow at the top of her head.
"Wow, you look amazing! But enough of that, we have to go, or else the others will leave us!" I said, grabbing Amber's hand and pulling her towards the Cat's Tail tavern where John and Lisa stood waiting for us.
"Y/N! Amber! Glad to see you two finally made it!" Joanne said with a warm smile on her face. "Where are Eula, Kaeya, and Aether though?" Jean asked peeking behind us to see where the other three were.
"Kaeya said he's going to be at the Angels tavern and Aether planned on celebrating the New Year in Liyue. As for Eula..." Amber trailed off as she looked around before making a face as if Timmy sent one of her pigeons to attack her. "SHOOT, WE WERE SUPPOSED TO GET EULA!" Amber shouted before running off to presumably go get Eula.
"Amber wait!" Jenna said running after her Leaving me and Lisa by the entrance on our own. We stood there for an awkward few seconds, as I took note of Lisa's outfit. It was similar to her usual outfit but white instead of gold details, and white gloves with golden ends that went all the way to her elbow.
"So should we head inside then, Y/N?" Lisa said finally breaking the silence.
"O-oh! um yeah, it would probably be better to wait inside." I said looking down to the ground as I twiddled my thumbs. Lisa opened the door to the tavern and the sound of laughter and drunkards filled the air. Diona was at the bar, frustrated as usual at her failure yet again to make a horrible drink. The tavern was a little crowded and it was hard to hear anything. I looked back ahead of me, only to realize I had lost Lisa. Beginning to panic I spun around in circles trying to spot her when I felt someone grab my hand. I looked up to see Lisa holding my hand and pulling me through the crowd to the second floor.
"Sorry about that Y/N, I should've paid more attention to where you were." Lisa said as she brought me over to an empty table. I felt my cheeks start warming up as I realized she was still holding my hand
"N-no it's n-n-not y-your f-f-fault." I managed to get out as I deeply focused on the lines on the table. Lisa quickly realized she was still holding my hand and quickly pulled her hand out of mine. I looked up and noticed a small blush spread across her face as she looked down.
"Ah, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable..." Lisa said busying her hands by adjusting her gloves and hat.
"O-oh no! you didn't make me uncomfortable at all, in fact, I kinda liked it" I quickly trying to comfort her. I felt my face heating up even more as I realized what I had said.
"Jeez, there you guys are! You guys were so hard to find!" Amber said, surprising me a little but providing a little relief since it gave me an excuse to avoid talking about what happened.
"Oh, well I suppose we should've waited for you guys outside so you wouldn't need to find us in this crowd." Lisa said, her usual charm returning as the three sat down at the table.
"I'm going to step outside real quick, be right back." I said excusing myself from the table. I stepped out onto the balcony, admiring the seemingly brighter stars. The air was cold enough for me to see my breath as I breathed into my hands to warm them up. I felt a slight warm breeze behind me. I looked back to see Lisa coming out from the tavern and lean on the railing next to me. "The sky's beautiful tonight, right?" I said trying to make small talk. Lisa simply nodded, staying silent as she looked up. I want to blow into my hands again but before I could Lisa had grabbed mine and incased them in hers
"Come on inside, Y/N. Wouldn't want my little helper catching a cold." Lisa said with a wink and charming smile on her face. My cheeks started heating up again as I nodded my head and follwed her back inside. We got back and sat down at the table where the others were happily chatting over two mushroom pizzas.
"Man, that was good." Amber said as she leaned back onto her chair. I reached into my pocket and pulled out some mora to pay for my portion of the bill.
"Y/N, don't worry about the bill, it's my treat." Jean said as she pushed my hand back from the bill.
"Oh, uh thanks then." I said awkwardly putting the mora back in my pocket. "Well we should get going, it's going to be midnight in 7 minutes and I don't wanna miss the fireworks!" I said as I got out of my chair and headed towards the staircase as the others followed.
"Ooo I'm so excited to see the fireworks! I heard that they got some even bigger ones this year!" Amber said as she happily skipped ahead of us on the path. We made our way to the massive statue of babitron just as Barabuah started her usual speech.
"Thank you all so much for coming! We've had a wonderful year with good and bad things happening!" Barney started. I looked around to see where Jerry had went, expecting her to be tearing up at her little sister when I heard her voice from by where Barbuah stood.
"May we live these next years in joy and peace. May we always be grateful for the past, find joy in the present, and remain excited for the future. Here's to love, laughter, and a Happy New Years!"Jenna said and immediately afterwards the fireworks started as the cathedral bells rang twelve times to signify midnight. The crowd started cheering and people wishing others a Happy New Years. Eula and Amber were happily chatting with eachother while Barbra and Jean gave eachother a hug.
"Happy New Years, Y/N!" Lisa said govving me a hug from behind. I felt her head on my shoulder and a big smile spread across my face.
"Happy New Years, Lisa!" I said to her.
