After a while amber found herself in the great hall, surrounded by a bunch of young happy faces of first years impatiently waiting to be sorted into their house, while walking to the middle of the hall she scanned the room, looking at all the people already sorted, until she locked eyes with a pale boy with jet black hair and icy blue eyes, she broke off the gaze after a few seconds because something about him made her feel a little uneasy, after a few mins waiting she found herself peaking at the mysterious boy, she saw he was still looking at her but with a curious look on his face.
She then saw the face of the headmaster professer dippet who looked down upon all the first years and started to call out all the names one by one starting with a girl called "dorea black", the hat sorted her into slytherin, after a few other people names where called it was finally her turn. "Clearwater amber " she was called out, the professor smiled at her before slipping the sorting hat onto her head. As the hat had started to hum, Amber felt the pressure of a thousand eyes waiting on her, she then heard the voice of the hat say "my, my what do we have here?, cleverness, desire and curiosity, and ambition, you really are like a jack of all trades". The hat said in awe, and after a few more moments of contemplating it said "tou would do well in a house that is full of power and ambition, but also one with creativity and wisdom" "you are here for your own battles yet you desire to know more, oh I know, better be SLYTHERIN!!" and with that, Amber was sorted into Slytherin, the table erupted into cheers as she stood and started to make her way down the steps to join the others.
When she got to the table there was only one seat available and it was near a blonde boy, who had a rather serious look on his face. She gave the boy a friendly smile and said hello, he responded with a nod and a slight half smile, but after a while she learned his name was abraxas Malfoy, amber was about to ask him a question but he was already deep in conversation with two other students who she heard was called Orion black and Avery nott so instead she sat back and listened.
After a while the headteacher told the "prefects" to take everyone to their common rooms after a quick tour of the castle.
