I'm on my way. I'm really sorry. :/
I texted Jonathan as I got out of the elevator and continued my way to the exit. As much as I hate being late, I hate having someone waiting for me. I feel like a burden.
Jonathan is one short-tempered guy. To others that is. I never did experience his temper gone wild. That's what I like about him. His such a brother to me. I've always wanted to have a brother, older than me at least. I have two biological siblings. My eldest sister is at London working as a nurse and my younger brother managing our business in our hometown, Tandige City. How I miss the rural feel in that city. Though more buildings are established every now and then. After graduating in BS in Accountancy, my batchmates and I went to Sikatan for review and for the board exam. After passing, we all went our separate ways. Reiny Candido, my college classmate, is the only trace of my college life.
As Cafe 90's came to view the taxi came to a halt. My walking turned to jog and went ahead inside. Looking at the cafe, it exudes a relaxing feel with brown wooden round tables and black metal chairs with intricate design in its top rail. The lightings are minimal. Just mini circles surrounding the place. The green fake plants wrapping the post adds up to the nature feels.
From the farthest right, I saw a girl standing and talking to the guy that she's blocking. A moment later, the girl turned. Smiling. Carrying her red purse that match her outfit, she went ahead making the guy visible. Making Jonathan visible. Sighing in boredom, I bit my lower lip out of guilt. I walked to him who raised his head on my direction before reaching him.
Jonathan stood as the distance between the two of us disappears. I stopped just before reaching the table.
"I'm so sorry. I really am," my face seems to sour while talking.
Jonathan steal a looked past my ear. Curious of what he's looking at, I turned but Jonathan grab my arm restricting me to do so.
"Hey, it's okay. I mean, you're always like this." He gave a short laugh and I joined in. He guide my arm to sit on the chair in front of him. I was fixing my seating when suddenly Jonathan bent down. Bent down on my side face his breathing made me stiff.
"Don't move. It's just an act." He whispered and made me loosen a bit. And even more curious. "Okay," I said without moving and knitting my brows.
Jonathan then moved on to his seat facing the other customers with a sudden smile. I smiled. I smiled for the reason that his being weird. I know what this is about. The only problem of Jonathan. Girls. I saw a small piece of paper lying on the table. I took it. Nothing intriguing. I flipped it and there it is.
"Hey," I grabbed Jonathan's hand while pocketing the calling card. Jonathan was shocked and almost sat back but I pinch him hard and whispered, "An act. Remember? Could you please look happy?" He released his breath that he was holding seconds ago with a smile. "You're such a natural," he said and hold my hand. Now our fingers are intertwined just resting beside his cup of coffee. I sat straight for the girls, who Jonathan is troubled, to see. Actually, for all other girls to see.
"What? You think that I already fall for you?" Now I'm laughing with my head pulled backward. I rested my elbow on the table and prop my chin on my fist. "You're such a cute guy." I continued, "Why? Pretty girls making you nervous?" pouting and talking in a tone use for babies.
"No way," he snorted a laugh, "They just, you know," he looked at our hands still intertwined, "intruding my privacy." He said nodding with a smile.
And oh formed in my mouth and sync with his nodding. "Then I should tell all the girls out here that you're available," I continued closing my eyes and moving my head sideways, "and very much ready to mingle."
