"Matt..."

"What?"

"That's not correct," you said, an exasperated sigh escaping your lips. "Okay, let's go back to the basics. What's the slope-intercept form?"

Matt scrunched up his nose in thought, clearly stumped. "Uhh... a² + b² = c²?"

You pinched the bridge of your nose and squeezed your eyes shut. "No, Matt... That's the Pythagorean theorem."

This study session was clearly not going as planned. Once you found out about your boyfriend's low GPA, you couldn't bear to continue letting him fail as hard as he was. I mean, a third? Hell, he was close to failing and retaking the year! So, you took it upon yourself to be his tutor after school every day. It wouldn't be the first time you tutored someone at your house, since people usually looked to you for help as the class president of your year.

...But you didn't expect it to be so difficult!

You've been in honors classes for as long as you could remember, so you had to remind yourself that you were a level ahead of most of your peers at school, meaning that you had to dumb it down for Matt quite a bit. "Alright Matt," you began, shifting in your seat. "Now, the slope-intercept form. The slope-intercept form is an equation that's depicted as y = mx + b. The variable m represents the slope of the equation, which is basically how much the line on the graph tilts. The variable b represents the y-intercept, which is where the line crosses with that vertical line in the middle of the graph, which is the y-plane. Any questions?"

Matt grimaced a little at the information overload. He hesitated for a moment, but said, "Actually... what does the y in the equation stand for...?"

You threw your arms up in defeat, dropping the pencil you held in your hand on the coffee table in front of you in the process. "I give up for now... Let's take a snack break," you said, clearly annoyed. You got up from your seat and went to the kitchen to grab a (favorite drink) for yourself, and (favorite snack) for you both to share. "Matt, do you want a Pepsi?" You didn't hear a response from him.

You turned your head to look at him. "Matt...?"

The scene before you made you immediately remorseful. He was looking down at his lap and fidgeting with his fingers, a frown evident on his face. Of course, he was upset, and you didn't intend to upset him at all. Your expression softened, and you immediately grabbed both of your drinks and rushed back to him at the coffee table. You set his drink down in front of him, surprising him. When he looked up at you, you gave him a small, warm smile.

"I know Pepsi is your favorite," you said, placing your hand on his shoulder gently. "Let's go watch some TV for a bit, yes?"

He looked back at you and flashed a small, awkward smile back at you. "Yeah... sure," he responded quietly.

You both took your snacks to the couch and made yourselves comfortable, throwing some blankets over yourselves that you left there from your last study session with Matt from the previous day. As you snuggled up closer to your ginger boyfriend, you pulled up Netflix, handing the TV remote to him when you were done.

"Do you wanna choose our show today?" you asked, smiling fondly. "I wanna see if there's anything interesting on here. Nothing's really caught my eye lately."

Matt's face lit up at the question. "Yeah, sure! I found a few K-Dramas the other day that we could watch," he exclaimed, now very excited. "Which one do you wanna start, (Y/N)?"

You chuckled at the endearing display from your boyfriend. It was almost something to envy, how he could be so happy about something so trivial. "It's up to you, Matt," you said, giving him a small peck on the cheek. Matt's face flushed at the small action, his smile only getting wider. He wrapped one of his arms around your shoulder as he started searching for a show for you both to watch.

"...Hey, Matt?"

"(Y/N)? What is it, love?"

"I love you. But you suck at algebra."

"...I'm sorry-"

"I'll help you get better before midterms though, no matter what it takes."

"Oh. Well... thank you!"

Matt placed a peck on your forehead and pressed play on the show.
