"Oh, there you are." Dr. Boroughs breathes out softly as Toni unzips her leather jacket. "You're late, Antoinette."

"Sorry, Dr. B. There was an accident on the bridge, I had to take the long route." Toni apologizes with a sigh, taking a seat on the soft brown couch across from her therapist.

"It's alright. You're here now. Since we have limited time, we can talk about what's bothering you as of late. Yesterday you messaged me about some anxiety you've been having."

"Yeah...recently my ex and I...we've been in touch."

"Oh?" Dr. Boroughs' blue eyes widen at the drop of information. "Okay, so how is that going? How do you feel?"

Toni rubs her sweaty palms against her jeans as she sighs. "That's the thing that's messing with my anxiety. Like...I get so overwhelmed with emotion when I'm around her. Or even talking to her. She's just...she's so perfect, way more than before. I just get so nervous around her because I don't want to say the wrong thing and everything goes to shit again. I already hurt her once and I'm not planning on doing it again."

"I see." her therapist nods. "So, it's making you feel on edge that you still feel so deeply for her?"

"Sort of. I'm not sure if she feels the same way still. So it has just been very awkward on my end. We hung out last week and it was fine. But there was so much tension that we couldn't understand."

"The tension is the love you two still hold for each other, Antoinette. Basically, your soul is familiar with who she is, and your heart misses hers. That's rare to find...you've ever heard of the Greek myth that humans were four-armed, legged, and eyed creatures?"

"You mean the one where Zeus split them in half, leaving them to look for their soulmates?"

"Exactly. That's you and her. You two were made for each other. You've found one another, again, and now your heart is begging you to reconnect with her."

Toni only sighs making the woman adjust herself in her seat. "Look, you love her still. And I'm sure she does as well, because if she didn't, she wouldn't be hanging out with you. Or even talking to you. Let alone, try to be friends with you."

"That's true..." the brunette mumbles. "I just don't want to blow this. She's back in my life. That's a good thing. I enjoy having her around. I feel so...whole."

"So hold onto that." Dr. Boroughs smiles. "Feel better?"

"I always do after talking to you." the athlete chuckles.

"So, your mother. We didn't finish talking about how you're coping." the woman sorts through her notepad with Toni's name and information on it.

"I've been coping fine, actually. It's just been the anxiety that's been getting to me."

"I see." the woman hums as she continues to go through Toni's notes. "Would you like for me to prescribe the anxiety medication we've talked about?"

"Actually...yes, please."

"Great. I will have that prescription made for you soon. How is your sobriety going?"

"I've been sober for almost two years now." the brunette smiles brightly. "And I haven't been tempted to drink, either. And I hope I never do or that I'll be with someone that'll make sure I don't do it."

"Yeah, I will warn you, there are moments in life where we have our downs. That's the time you'll most likely be tempted. But just remember who you're doing this for. For you. Your family. Even Cheryl. I'll be rooting for you."
