Domine stood in the castle library in silence as he scanned the many books on the tall shelves. He ran his finger across the spines of the cover as he thought about what to read. Despite having lived in the castle for over 2 years, he still wasn't used to the regality of everything.
He reached up, standing on his toes and grabbed a book from the shelf. He could just barely reach it, and once he did, he held the book close to his chest. He sighed. Currently, he was looking for books to do some research. His visions lately have been strange and unhelpful. But, if he could decipher who the people in it were or what the vision meant, then he wouldn't be as useless to the king.
Though, he heavily doubted the answers were in some random magical research text, but he didn't have much of a choice. There were only so many books related to the topic in the library. And he had already read most of them. He even got someone to help him translate the things he didn't understand. He couldn't just give up now.
With that on his mind, he left the library and walked towards his chambers. The halls in the castle were all so decorated and refined. Much different from his hometown. And despite the luxurious lifestyle he had here, there were many times where he missed his old home. But if he was given the choice, he would choose to go here every time. He's able to support his family this way.
He glanced at the guards stationed outside of his chambers. It was such a strange thing to him, having people way older than him be ordered to make sure nothing happened to him. He gave them a small smile as one opened the door for him. He didn't get a reaction back but that was pretty much expected. He walked inside the room as the door was closed behind him.
He would look around at the state the room was in. Stacks of books were scattered around anywhere you could think of. He sighed as he realized he'd have to return these soon. He frowned, having totally forgotten about the fact. Just as he started to walk towards his bed to read, suddenly his vision went dark and his surroundings started to warp. The shifted and changed until suddenly he was in an alleyway.
He quickly looked around. What was happening this time. Suddenly she saw a woman with long white hair and a beautifully painted masquerade mask on her face. She seemed to be lurking, waiting for something. Suddenly she stuck a hand out. What was she doing? Then out of nowhere, the prince flew into the alleyway and was slammed against a wall. The prince?! Why was he here? Domine's eyes widened. What was going on here? What was this vision? Was it true- of course it was true, when were they not. But what did this mean?
The woman stuck her hand out again and said..something. It was hard to comprehend. It felt like his head was underwater and was trying to figure out what someone said above him. He looked up towards the sky. The only knowledge he had was that it was night and the prince gets assaulted. He quickly turned his head to see the woman pick up the unconscious body of the prince. When had that happened?! And right as the woman began to fly up...
Domine eyes shot opened as he frantically looked around. When had he gotten on the ground? He had landed on a stack of books, that's why his body felt sore. The two guards that were stationed were standing above him. Immediately after seeing the boy was up, one spoke up. "Are you alright?"
He slowly pushed himself off of the ground. He shook his head. "I...have to go.." he mumbled before rushing out of the room despite the guards protests. And Domine ran. He ran and ran down the many halls, looking for the King. He had to find him. It was his sworn duty to protect the royal family. So, he had to warn them of what was to come.
The castle was a gigantic place..how was he ever going to figure out where the King was at. It would take too long to check each and every room. The King wouldn't be eating at this time..nor would he be in his chambers. Perhaps in his study? Immediately, Domine turned and sprinted straight to the King's Study. Once he made it in front of the doors, he took a short moment to catch his breath.
He slowly reached up and knocked on the door before entering. It would be considered rude to not announce yourself before entering a room. Especially within the presence royalty.
Domine shut the door before turning to face the king. "Your highness, I-" he began to quickly explain in great detail what he witnessed. Faster and faster. Every second counted. He looked horrified and the King just stared at the oracle.
"..what happened? Take a deep breath and tell me when your calm." the king said softly. Domine stopped and realized he had been speaking so fast it was incomprehensible. He took a few deep breaths. Okay. Calm.
"It's..the prince. He- he's going to be kidnapped." He rubbed his eyes as he tried to recall everything from the vision. "It was in an alleyway at night, the prince was unconscious and this person- I don't know who it was." he shook his head. "They were wearing some sort of mask? I'm sorry, I wish I could tell you more."
The King went silent for a moment as he just stared at him. "What?!" he said as he stood up from his desk. Domine's eyes widened but he quickly nodded. "I don't really understand how either."
"Something must be done immediately..! Thank you for alerting me, I will go take action right away." the king said before rushing out of the room, walking at a fast pace towards the prince's room as Domine quickly followed.
Domine watched as the Kingwent up to the prince's room. The female soldier posted there was about to salute, but wasn't given the chance as the King rushed into the prince's room. He remained to the side of the door, so he could only overhear the conversation.
"AH- father.?"
"Stay in your room until further notice, Alexander. You are not to leave under any circumstances."
"Wh-what? Why?!"
"I just learned from the oracle that you are to be kidnapped. Do NOT leave your room, young man. Do you understand me?"
"...yes father."
"Good, as you were." The King then left the room and headed down the hall. As Domine was left watching him leave. Did he change anything?
