Fourteen days had passed since they left the Isle of Coriakin, still surrounded by the seas, no land in sight or sign of the Blue Star they were supposed to follow. They entered through uncharted waters, the storms became more recurrent and denser as they sailed.
The waves were pushing the ship, the water was seeping in through the deck, there was no way that the crew of the Dawn Treader could have a peaceful and restful night. The ship was moving briskly. Theodora tried to sleep, but the intense rattling of the Narnian ship woke her up before she could even fall asleep. Between the covers, she turned, her arms searching for her beloved husband's body, but she didn't find it.
Rising abruptly, she looked at the side where Caspian had fallen asleep, beside her, last night. She removed her long, wavy hair from her face as she watched the dark, silent cabin, yawning before getting up, stretching and turning to check the white handkerchiefs, which were still clean.Thea combed her hair with her fingers and got ready for another day on board, not knowing their destination. She took a book that she had left on the table next to the big window, looked at herself in the mirror, glancing at her appearance.
What was it that her mother had wanted to say to her before the slender woman had appeared? Was it relevant for their journey?
Lucy had stayed with Gael in the chamber, they were probably sleeping; Eustace seemed to have disappeared, that's what he ordinarily does. Theodora just wants him to be secured. The whereabouts of her husband and the second youngest Pevensie were unknown to her, perhaps they were gathered in the room.
Her boots were soaked, her weary body swaying as she walked down the hall towards the boat's corridor. It was as if the intensity of the gigantic waves increased by each second.
Upon reaching the room, she found the trio: Caspian, Edmund and Lord Drinian assembled. They seemed to be about to discuss a very serious matter, Edmund standing holding the ceiling, the ship's captain leaning on the table and the King of Telmar sitting between the cushions, noticing the presence of the woman, who had crept into the room.
Theodora swallowed and smiled, leaning against the wall with the lion symbol, waiting for them to start talking.
"We are stuck here," Drinian marked a specific location on the map. "half ration with food and water for two more weeks maximum." He looked at the seated king. "This is your last chance to turn back, Your Majesty." he solemnly admitted.
Caspian looked at Thea and then at Edmund. The Queen of Telmar straightened up, paying close attention. "There is no guarantee, we'll spot the Blue Star anytime soon. Not in this storm. It is a needle in a haystack, trying to find this Ramandu place. We could sail right past it and off the edge of the world."
"Or get eaten by a sea serpent." added Edmund, wide-eyed. Theodora looked down at the floor restraining her laugh, shaking her head.
"I'm just saying the men are getting nervous." warned Drinian. "These are strange seas we're sailing... the likes of which I've never seen before." He approached the map, turning to Caspian.
