"I'll be straightforward with you." Eunhyuk sighed. "You're going to be doing all the dangerous tasks from now on."
Jiwon's eyes widened as she swiftly turned to see Eunhyuk.
She said gently, "Hey, wait, we didn't discuss this—," but Eunhyuk interrupted her.
"If you don't want to, we can't help you." He said, which progressively increased Jiwon's discontent.
"What do you mean?" The girl felt a wave of sympathy for Hyunsoo as he stuttered since he appeared to be so terrified and confused.
"Can you get the man from 1408?" Eunhyuk asked.
In response to Eunhyuk's question, Jiwon's eyes grew stern, and before Hyunsoo could react, the girl grasped the arm of her best friend before turning to face Hyunsoo.
"Hyunsoo, could you please return to the room?"
"And you, we need to talk," she said sweetly, turning to face Eunhyuk.
Before dragging Eunhyuk to a section of the lobby that few people frequented, she watched Hyunsoo leave. The girl's body was brimming with annoyance and Eunhyuk could feel it in her feet and her firm grasp on his arm. She kept tugging him while refusing to look at him. If the boy hadn't already been upset with her, he could have felt awful for making her angry.
When they eventually entered a sparse room, the girl let go of her best friend's arm and turned to face him, a look of irritation on her face.
"How could you ask that of him?" She yelled.
Eunhyuk huffed, looking agitated as well. "I wanted to, but you were gone for hours, so I made my own decision."
The two were becoming more frustrated with one another's recent lack of communication.
"Eunhyuk, just because he's sick doesn't mean he's expendable!" She said, her eyes strained, "He's still human."
"Is he? And why is it important to you?" He talked with authority.
"Yes. He is." Jiwon ignored the second part of the question, "If you send him up, I'm going with him," and spoke as a matter of fact.
"No, you aren't," He increased his voice and grabbed the girl by the forearm.
Both of their eyes were filled with weariness and anger as they just gazed into each other's eyes. After giving Jiwon a longer look, Eunhyuk's blood, which had been boiling, started to cool, but Jiwon's did not. It was not the right moment for him to be arguing with the girl, so he let go of her arm.
"Okay, let's talk about this again later." He put his hand on her shoulder.
Jiwon slapped his hand away. There was no way she could confide in him about being infected now.
She muttered, "I don't like the type of person you're becoming."
"And don't tell me what to do," she added as she hurriedly left the boy in her wake.
The two did not communicate for a while after that. Eunhyuk avoided Jiwon because he knew she probably needed some time away from him while Jiwon made her way across the lobby, aiding anybody who asked for assistance. It was an odd feeling, the last time he had witnessed her being angry at him was probably more than a year prior.
The two of them were sitting in the school's infirmary when she exclaimed at the boy, "Eunhyuk! I warned you not to do that lab today! You've now injured your wrist and gotten a cut."
While they waited for the nurse to get some bandages, the girl pouted and held the boy's hand over his head. Eunhyuk had injured his wrist earlier in the week while playing around with the girl, and he was still unable to move it fully. The boy was cautioned not to use a scalpel during the dissection portion of today's biology lab by Jiwon, but he disregarded her advice and wounded his hand badly as a result.
