"I swear to God, Hyunsoo, this better not get me killed," Jiwon muttered, standing alone in a large, dark square room. She could feel herself being watched like prey, which was ironic considering her capabilities. The chains around her neck and wrists annoyed her more by the second, and the white clothes they had put her in made her feel like a lab rat. Her long hair hit her back in a way that felt unfamiliar. Did she always have long hair?
"Hello," said an unknown man's voice.
"Where's Hyunsoo?" Jiwon questioned immediately.
There was no answer.
As Jiwon stood quietly, she heard bangs and something creaking open. One of the doors above her opened. She waited, hoping to see someone she could kill and escape. No, she promised Hyunsoo she'd cooperate, even though he essentially got her shot to "death" earlier.
A giant monster jumped in. It reminded her of something.
"You're kind of ugly. Like this other monster, I remember," Jiwon said, thinking hard. "Meatball? Meat? Muscle! Yes, muscle monster!"
She obviously got no response from the monster. God, her head hurt thinking about this stuff.
"Thank you for coming here," the voice spoke again.
"You're welcome?" she answered sarcastically.
"Are you going to cooperate?" the voice asked.
"Sure."
"Great," the voice said, and Jiwon heard a loud sound.
Suddenly, she felt water hitting the top of her head but quickly realized it was blood as she saw her hands covered in bright red liquid. Soon, she was completely soaked. She just waited, not understanding what was going on, as the monster in front of her started moving and growling.
"Type Red: They show aggressive behaviour towards blood," said the voice. "Show us what you can do, MH-7."
Jiwon just stood there. As the monster got up and marched towards her, she stretched her limbs, not looking forward to being hit. She didn't know what she was supposed to do—kill it?
And then it hit her, knocking her into the wall behind her.
"Heh," she gasped as the wind was knocked out of her lungs, her eyes closing. Her body began to crack and transform as pain reverberated through her body. From her back erupted four wing-like appendages, gleaming white and adorned with sharp, shimmering points. Each wing was eerily detailed, with eyes embedded in the feathers, watching from every angle. As she opened her own eyes, they were void of complete blackness, giving her the unsettling visage of a seraph.
"Such an interesting form," the doctor said.
And just as the fight started, it was over. She ran towards the monster, and the points of her wings cut it in half causing red to stain the white. As she looked down at it, it kept trying to move. So she cut it into pieces. She stared at the monster; despite protecting herself, she felt as though she had made a mistake.
"AHHH!" she suddenly yelled, a pounding headache reaching her head as she fell to the ground.
"MH-7 is no saviour. She has no mercy. We will continue experiments on MH-5 and find another use for her." she heard on the speaker as soldiers ran into the room.
As Jiwon closed her eyes, she met an unfamiliar situation. She stood watching security screens from a hazy vision. A boy sat in front of the screens wearing a red plaid shirt and headphones on. Pieces of the roof crumbled all around the two. She tried to move, but this felt like a pre-recorded video; she couldn't control her movements. The roof began crumbling down in large pieces; it seemed like the building was going to collapse. The pieces didn't hit her as her wing appendages protected her head.
"Hey! Get out of here!" she tried to yell at the boy. Any large piece could hit him and kill him. Humans were weak.
She couldn't move; she tried to throw the weapon she had in her hand, but it wouldn't move either. She felt her body move towards the boy. She could warn him, but she didn't. She stood behind him and placed a hand on his shoulder. He looked over, and his eyes widened. He seemed familiar, his fluffy hair and soft features.
"I'll wait for you," she said quietly in an inhuman voice, looking over at him as the world went dark.
"What the hell was that?" Jiwon said, getting up from the floor in a room surrounded by bars, like a jail. The blood that had covered her was gone, and her clothes were changed into a red jumpsuit but her hair remained soaking wet. Jiwon looked around, confused, as a man walked up to a wall lined with glass.
"Welcome back, MH-7, or should I say Jiwon," said the man.
Jiwon just looked at him with tired eyes.
"You were the man on the speaker," she stated.
"That's right," he said, as the glass lowered and he walked into the room. "You are quite the monster," he said, walking around her. "Are you perhaps Catholic?"
"I don't know," she said hesitantly.
"You and Hyunsoo are quite different, we've found," he stated again as Jiwon listened. "He hesitated to kill the monster. But you killed it with no problem!" He laughed. "I think you better suit being a little soldier, no?"
Jiwon continued listening to the man.
"Anyway, we will continue trials on both of you," he said, walking out of the room.
Jiwon glared at him. He's definitely a psycho. But is he my enemy?
