I slammed my bedroom door shut in Ace's face and screamed. "I'm walking to work, and that's that!"

I heard Ace huff loudly from the other side of my bedroom door. "You know, you're really starting to act like a child again, Bri!"

I gave him the finger even though he couldn't see it and walked into my ensuite shower. I slammed the door hard so he could hear how much he'd pissed me off.

If that was childish, then I didn't care.

It was four in the afternoon, and I was so done with today.

At first, I was optimistic and actually fooled myself into believing that today was going to be a great day. Nick had actually arrived at sociology on time, and we'd finally managed to fix a schedule that would work for the both of us. Mondays and Thursdays, I'd be going home with Nick, and we'd finally get fully started on this project. I had to pass this year. I just had to.

My bad luck started in English class when Easton took up the whole table by leaning his forearms on the desk. I spent the whole class squished up against the window, trying to write notes.

When I'd had enough, I shoved him with my elbow.

It was the wrong thing to do because instead of getting annoyed, it amused him. The jerk had only gone and stretched his forearm's out farther, so I had no room to do anything.

Then Ashley had to work tonight and couldn't pick me up. That wasn't the issue because I was totally fine taking the bus home. But no, instead, Ace had the day off and took it upon himself to pick me up from school.

"How was college today, Bri?" He'd asked.

"Fine." I looked out the window, watching other cars go by.

Ace must have felt that I was still mad at him from dinner on Saturday because he asked, "Want to watch a movie tonight? How about Ant-man?"

"I can't. Today Is my first day working at the gas station."

I could practically see Ace scowl at that, but I didn't turn to confirm my suspicion. It was confirmed when he said, "Couldn't you have got a job that is actually in town? Like – I don't know – A cute, little clothes shop?"

"I tried. None of them were hiring." I grounded my molars against each other. I could feel myself growing irritated.

"Fine, what time do you start? I'll drive you." Ace insisted, turning the car onto our street.

"I'm walking." That was my only response and Ace clenched his jaw at that.

"Why have you always got to be so difficult?" He angrily parked the car onto our drive. Before he was even done parking, I opened the car door and slammed it shut. I dug into my bag for my keys whilst Ace gave me his annoyed stare from the front view mirror.

He stepped out of the car, slammed the door, and locked it. "Bri, stop ignoring me."

I finally found my keys and turned away from him to unlock the front door. "Leave me alone, Ace."

But it hadn't ended there, he followed me into the house, shouting at me like I was a child he could boss around until I'd finally slammed my bedroom door in his face.

I know Ace was trying to be nice, but it didn't help when he wouldn't take no for an answer. I wanted to walk to familiarize myself with the area and to time how long it'd take me to get there when a lift wasn't an option. But all Ace could see was how much of a brat I was being.
