She was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. Her long red hair glowed almost like fire once the sun's rays reached it. Her eyes were as green as emerald. She looked so much like her mother. Her twin brother on the other hand, his hair was dark brown, almost black. The only thing that made them look alike was the eyes and their height. They were both pretty tall for their age. His eyes were green as well. But other than that he was almost an exact copy of their father while she was a copy of their mother.

Their mother had chosen his name before they were even born, Gally. He was named after their grandfather who had passed away just a few weeks after she got pregnant. Their father had chosen her name. He wanted it to be similar to her brother's name. Therefore he named her Gabbie.

Their mother had passed away the same day she gave birth to the twins. Gabbie's the oldest. Well there's only seventeen minutes between them. Their father still hadn't gotten over their mother's death. It was practically a miracle that she was able to have the twins. She had been affected by a deadly virus just a few months before they were born. Their father had found a way to slow the virus down but not a way to stop it. So when she got infected he built a place he called "the glade" and he built a maze around it, to make sure no one would get in or out.

Gally and Gabbie were born in the glade and they spent their first years there, for their father to make sure they weren't infected by the virus. It turned out they weren't. But there was something strange going on with Gabbie, their father didn't realize it until she started talking. It was as if she answered every single thought of his and eventually Gally's too. She could hear their thoughts.

When the twins turned five they left the glade with their father. They went to a big house where their father lived before they moved to the glade. There was plenty of space for the twins to play around at. They were allowed to do almost anything they wanted as long as they didn't get hurt or disturbed their father while he was working. He was working for an organization to find a cure for "the flare" as they called a virus that had infected the earth.

Not more than a few weeks after they had all arrived at the house there was a knock on the door. The twins went to tell their father who hadn't heard it.

"Father. Someone's at the door", Gabbie carefully said. He turned around in his chair to look at the twins with a small smile.

"Ah. Thank you", he said as he got up. The twins were just about to walk away to keep playing when their father spoke again. "Gabbie?"

"Yes father?"

"I need you to hide in the secret room under the stairs as I told you. And whatever happens you are not to make a sound nor come out until I tell you to. Do you understand me?" The five year old girl looked up at her father and nodded.

The three of them then went to the stairs and their father opened the secret room as Gabbie got in and sat down. "Don't worry Gabbie. Everything will be alright", their father said with a small but reassuring smile. He then closed the room and turned to Gally. "Gally. No matter what, you are not to tell anyone you have a sister. Do you understand?" he said with a strict but calm voice towards the five year old boy.

"Yes father", the boy answered.

"Now go play upstairs", their father said.

Once the boy had run upstairs their father went to open the door. "I am so sorry I kept you waiting", he said while answering the door.

"Doctor Cowell. We just heard you arrived back in town", it was a woman with long blonde hair who answered him.

"Ms Paige. How nice to see you again", the twins' father answered.
