"adelaide you're going to love golfing." grandpa says as we walk into the country club. "would you like a drink before going? the dugray's are running a bit late." he asks and i nod, "sure." we walk up to the bar and grandpa orders first. "if you'd like, you can get something with a bit of alcohol in it. i won't tell your mom." he smiles and i laugh. "i'll just have a strawberry daiquiri." i order and we sit, waiting for our drinks.

after a few minutes of talking, i see tristan and i'm guessing his dad walk in. "ah, alexander this is my grandaughter adelaide." he introduces and i shake his hand, "nice to meet you." i smile, "the pleasure is all mine, you know my son tristan from chilton correct?" he asks and tristan looks down at me. "yes, i do." i nod, "be nice and say hi tristan." his dad says with a stern look on his face. "hey." he gives in, "hey." i give a flattened smile and look down at my shoes. "i hope he isn't like this at school, is he?" his dad questions, i can tell his dad is strict and i didn't want the day to be completely awkward so i lie, "no he's great." tristan looks up at me and gives me a thankful look and i just nod to him.

we all head outside to the golf carts, grandpa and mr. dugray take one to share, leaving me and tristan to get one together, great. "how was your first day at chilton, mary?" he asks, "what is up with the whole mary thing?" i roll my eyes, "that's something you have to figure out on your own." he shrugs and sits back.

"do you even know how to golf?" he asks, "nope." i sarcastically smile. "your grandpa talks about you a lot, i didn't even realize it was you who he talked about until i found out you were a gilmore." he states, "all good things i hope." i say looking at him, "he's really proud of you and your sister." he replies. he's finally not getting on my nerves.

when we get to the first hole, mr. dugray helps me out of the cart. as much as i really don't like rich people, they have really good manners. "tristan will teach you how to golf, alexander and i will probably getting a little ahead." grandpa says, oh that's nice. i have to be alone with him, again.

i let the guys golf on their own for a bit, not wanting to bother. after about ten minutes, grandpa and mr. dugray finished the hole leaving me and tristan behind. "your turn mary." tristan says, i pick up a golf club and a ball and walk up to the golf tee. i swing the club in hopes i would at least make a little bit of contact with the ball, which i failed to do.

"you suck." he laughs at me, leaning against the golf cart. "shut your mouth before i shut it for you dugray." i scoff and he just smiles at me, "come over here and do it then princess." he says, i roll my eyes in response.

he walks up behind and puts his arms around me, holding the golf club. "what are you doing?" i ask as i feel his warm breath against my neck, "i'm helping you." he replies, "i don't need your help." i mutter as he swings both of our arms up together, "looks like you did." he winks at me after the ball goes flying.

"i need another drink." i sigh before getting back in the golf cart, "what, are you already done?" he asks, "yes." i answer bluntly and cross my arms, "fine, let's go back to the country club then." he says, "finally." i reply as he starts the golf cart.

we get back to the country club and sit in the main room, live music is playing and a fire is keeping the place warm. "i'll go get drinks, what do you want?" he asks, "just get me anything, alcohol preferred." i smile and he nods and puts a thumb up. i wait for him to come back, i see him walking back towards me with two glasses of champagne in his hands, "oh you got that fancy people shit." i laugh and he hands me the glass.

"so why'd you transfer to chilton?" he asks sitting next to me, "my sister wanted to, she's the smart one out of us two. i really didn't want to go to chilton." i explain, "well, do you at least like it?" he questions and i shake my head, "not really, it hasn't gotten any better. i'm only friends with like one person." i shrug, "aw, i'm your friend?" he sarcastically smiles, "you wish, it's emiko." i roll my eyes. "makes sense, you two are similar." he replies, "how?" i ask. before he can reply, his phone starts ringing. "hold on, it's summer." he says, "who?" i tilt my head in confusion, "my girlfriend."
