They held each other until he returned. A swift escape signaled that he was back in his right mind. It was bittersweet. She loved that feeling of holding him, and of caring for him responsibly, and would miss it as much as she'd missed the real Luffy while she babysat.
"Sorry for the trouble, Hancock," he said. "I'm impressed though. You took control of me so easily. I knew I could depend on you"
She gave a weak smile. "I found out the venom only made you emulate my emotions. It was fairly simple once I realized that."
"Still... Whenever I was under the influence of the venom... The feelings felt real to me. The anger, the sadness, the fear, and... ya know."
A silence ensued. Somehow they reached a mutual understanding.
"does that mean the-"
"Yea. It made me realize how much I appreciate you, and more beyond that, that I can't explain."
She wanted nothing more than to pry for details, but didn't. Almost exploding out of her skin, she sat calm and collected. Instead, she sighed and resolved to stay patient. He'll figure things out.
"Well. You went through all of that trouble. Why don't you try the honey I collected?"
"Of course. Anything you feed me."
and they did. And the bittersweet feeling of him leaving her arms disappeared when she lay in his. Exchanging stories to pass time. Tomorrow they would train, and bedtime approached. Looking down at her supple form. Smelling her perfect scent. Hearing her delicate breaths as she slept, so subtle they almost didn't exist. Feeling her silky hair and warmth against his chest. All that was left, was to taste her. Taste the residual honey on her tongue, or her lips. And he realized how bad that venom was for him. Because now he couldn't get it out of his head.
Maybe Sanji got stung by a winter bee.
