The morning was cold and dull. The icy air encroached on the couple's rest, waking them up with chattering teeth. The gold in Boa's earrings grew frigid, tempting her to remove them. Luffy's skin grew stiff, almost losing it's elasticity.
"It's cold as hell. Perfect for training, don't you think?"
"Not really. It's most unpleasant."
"Nonsense. Zoro trains in the snow shirtless. I gotta get tougher than even that."
"Zoro... He's a member of your crew, correct?"
"Yep. He's the Strawhat Pirates' badass swordsman. He's one of the toughest guys I know."
"You're training yourself in every way you can. I truly adore you for that"
His smile disappeared. "Of course I am. Look at where I am right now! I couldn't protect my crewmates. I couldn't protect my brother. Getting stronger is my only option!" He clenched his teeth, and then lowered his voice. "I remind myself of that everyday, and it drives me"
His sudden influx of passion was intimidating, but she didn't falter.
"I understand. Then I'll help you get there. We'll begin your training after lunch."
He finally smiled again. "Good. And you'd better not go easy."
...
He wasted no time, immediately going into gear second. And attacking her. She smiled, dodging his attacks with ease. "You aren't using your haki at all, I can see every attack you try."
He laughed, redirecting a missed hit toward her. She still dodged, riding his arm back to his body, and kicking him in the face. Of course, she didn't use haki, because her kick served as a message.
JET GATTLING
she dodged, the best she could, but the cold was starting to get to her. Luffy on the other hand, was warming up. Still, she evaded. He blew into his thumb, making his hand bigger. He threw a heavy punch, finally coating his hand in armament haki
ELEPHANT GUN
"Too slow."
She ran forth, throwing a flurry of kicks. He weaved the best he could, but avoided less than half of them. His breath grew heavy, he no longer shrank after using gear 3, but he still felt the effects.
"I'll catch up to you eventually"
She smiled. He was right. She was growing slower in the cold. So she got an idea. Using geppo, she levitated, high in the air. Looking down at him from above.

"THATS UNFAIR STOP CHEATING"
"You're telling me you'll give up if faced with an opponent outside of your range?"
"Well I can't fly! And you'll just land if I try to slingshot."
"I believe in you! You told me to challenge you. Overcoming the impossible is nothing to you."

This went on for quite sometime he did his best to dodge her haki bullets, but she never relented.
Pistol kiss
He growled. "Damnit I'm tired of your stupid heart bullets. I'm coming to get you!"
He compressed his legs within themselves, quickly releasing them to create a shockwave. In rapid succession, this allowed him to fly. It worked! I wonder if doing the same thing with my fists will let me hit faster. He tried. Pulling back his fists like a spring, but they wouldn't stay put. And he couldn't hit her. She continued spamming pistol kisses, forcing him to dodge as he flew. Then, he got an idea. Haki could stiffen his rubber body, allowing him to spring-lock his punches. For the first time, he hit her.
"IT WORKED!"
"You did so good Luffy. I'm so proud of you!" She yelled, easily blocking the punch with her armament haki. They landed.
"DID YOU SEE THAT!? I CAN FLY!!" I just need to hit a little harder, maybe if I put air into my muscles...
"Hardship births perseverence."
"Yeah well Rayleigh never did any ranged attacks, so I never had to fly." He landed, completely exhausted, needing her help to walk back to their shelter. By the time their training ended, it was 8 past noon, and it was growing cold, they opted to head to bed, hoping their blankets would be enough to keep them warm.
