The Oneus members were currently on a much needed vacation and with how hectic their schedules had been, none of the members had any intention of waking up before noon. However, for whatever reason, Geonhak found himself awake at the early hour of ten in the morning. He woke up feeling rather refreshed, so he decided to get up and make breakfast for the others.
Since Geonhak had time to make the food he decided to make a more involved breakfast. He had been wanting to try making a quiche, so he decided that he would do that along with some pancakes. He put on a random music playlist, then got started on making a pie crust from scratch. As he was making the pie crust, Geonhak found himself relaxing to the point of essentially forgetting what he was doing and getting lost in the moment.
The beep from the oven signaling that it was done preheating snapped him out of a daze he had been in. He looked at the pie crust he had been kneading and saw that he had made a snowman. He sighed as he realized that he was apparently very close to slipping into his headspace. He hadn't even felt like he needed to slip. He should really wake up his Seoho hyung since the older is his main caregiver, and he is actively cooking. But his desire to surprise the others with breakfast, or brunch, or whatever was winning the internal debate
Geonhak successfully finished getting the quiche into the oven and was currently mixing the pancake batter. Day6 was currently playing in the background and the rapper could hear chatter coming from the hallway, signalling that some of the others had woken up. He had just started to pour batter into the pan when Keonhee, Hwanwoong, and Dongju walked in. They all looked a bit tired, but immediately perked up upon smelling the food. Keonhee and Hwanwoong sat down at the table, while Dongju decided to begin setting the table and getting the syrup and whipped cream out.
Seoho emerged from his room just as Geonhak finished making the pancakes. The quiche had also been removed from the oven and was cooling on the table. The second oldest brought the plate full of pancakes to the table and the group started eating. Due to a combination of everyone having just woken up and their mouths being occupied with food, breakfast was rather silent. When they finished eating, Keonhee, Hwanwoong, and Dongju announced that they were going to spend the day at the mall. Seoho had decided that he was going to play some video games in the living room. Geonhak got started on cleaning the dishes from the meal prep.
The music that had been playing while Geonhak was cooking was still on. Although at some point, it started playing songs with a more childish vibe. This was bringing Geonhak closer to slipping, but he wanted to get the dishes cleaned first. Unfortunately, he had forgotten to turn off the burner of the electric stove that he had been cooking with. While there were no pans on said burner, Geonhak accidently brushed his hand against it for a split second while he went to grab a lid to clean. It wasn't long enough to burn him, but it did startle him. He jumped a little and dropped the lid, the sound causing him to fully slip into headspace.
Seoho was aimlessly wandering around in his video game, when he was startled by a loud clatter quickly followed by a sob. He put down the controller and made his way to the kitchen in a rush to see what had happened with Geonhak.
He found the younger man sitting on the floor crying, with one hand cradled in the other. One of the pan lids was also on the ground near Geonhak's feet. He knelt down in front of the younger and gently placed his hand on the other's shoulder.
"Geonie, what's wrong." He asked. Geonhak sniffled as he pulled his arm closer to his chest and pointed at the stove.
"Huwted me!" Geonhak exclaimed, the different pronunciation instantly alerting Seoho that Geonhak had slipped. Seoho also followed the direction of Geonhak's pointing and noticed the indicator light on. He quickly stood up and turned off the burner. Before crouching back down to inspect the little's hand.
Thankfully, he didn't see any redness or or anything to indicate a burn, but he still grabbed a paper towel and wet it with cold water before placing it on the little's hand. "Okay, let's go back to the living room and relax for a bit." He said. Seoho noticed that the dishes weren't done yet, but they could easily get finished later.
Seoho turned off the game he had been playing and instead booted up Animal Crossing. No one in the group really played the game, but little Geonhak absolutely loved it. Seoho chuckled a little when he saw his little's face brighten a bit at the sound of the familiar music. Seoho sat on the floor and let Geonhak crawl into his lap as he started up the game. The elder handed the younger the controller after booting up his character and let him begin wandering around the island.
Geonhak spent several minutes doing the daily activities of finding the money rock and fossils. He also picked up several shells before handing the controller off to Seoho. Seoho took the cue as Geonhak didn't want to play anymore for now, so he turned off the gaming system before turning off the tv.
"Geonie, can I see your hand real quick?" Geonhak held his hand up for Seoho to inspect. He was pleased to see that there was still absolutely no sign of injury, so the little's hand brushing up against the burner scared him more than anything else. Geonhak began squirming in Seoho's lap. "What's up?" He asked as Geonhak grabbed his hand and began tugging on him.
"Wanna paint please." Seoho stared at Geonhak a little bit stunned, because the younger hadn't really ever shown interest in art when regressed. Not to mention the fact that he knew for a fact that they didn't have any paints in the dorm.
"Uh, I think we have some pens that you can draw with." Seoho said. Unfortunately, this was the wrong thing to say and the next thing the caregiver knew, he had a little throwing a tantrum over wanting to paint.
"Geonhakie, you don't need to be upset. We can build with blocks or something." This made Geonhak scream louder
"Paint, Paint, Paint." Geonhak shouted has quite literally threw himself to the floor. Seoho did not want to deal with a tantruming little, when the day was supposed to be filled with relaxation. He knew that it was better not to give in to tantrums, because later the little might think that they can just tantrum whenever they wanted something. He took out his phone, about to text a manager to run to the store for some finger paints, when he remembered something he did in preschool. Seoho quickly ran to the bathroom and grabbed an unopened can of shaving cream.
"Geonie, we don't have any paint, but have something that I think could be equally as fun." Seoho said. Geonhak seemed conflicted, but he calmed down a tiny bit and turned his attention to his caregiver. Geonhak watched as Seoho uncapped the shaving cream and sprayed some on the table. Out of curiosity, Geonhak went to the table to investigate while Seoho quickly ran into the kitchen. He stuck his hand in the pile of foam and he couldn't help but giggle as he spread it around.
Seoho returned, relieved to see that the little was playing and had calmed down. "Hakie, you wanna see something cool?" Geonhak stared up at Seoho with tears still present on his cheeks, although he was no longer crying. Seoho grabbed the shaving cream and made a few different dollops on the table before putting a few drops of food coloring in each dollop.
Seoho grabbed one of Geonhak's hands and helped him mix the color into the shaving cream. An excited squeal escaped the mouth of the little as the shaving cream turned from white to purple. Geonhak then put his other hand and placed in another dollop of shaving cream, smearing it over the table. Seoho joined in on mixing the colors, then the duo worked in chaotic tandem to make some kind of picture that Geonhak was insisting was an octopus.
"Appapus, Appapus." Geonhak said excitedly while pointing to the colorful blob on the table.
"Geonie, are you saying that your appa Seoho is an octopus?" Seoho accused, although there was no malice in his voice.
"Appapus, appa." The little responded. The excited cheering was quickly followed by a yawn.
"Let's get you cleaned up then to bed for a nap. Afterwards, we can make some cookies and playdough." Seoho said as he pulled Geonhak in the direction of the bathroom. He got the little cleaned up and tucked in before returning to the table and taking a picture of the creation, sending it to the others in the group chat. He then began to clean up the mess before getting everything ready for the after nap activities he promised the little.
