chapter 10

Rece's POV

I was laying in bed like I had been for the past couple days since I got home. I felt like there was no real point in doing anything, before the whole being paralyzed thing happened all I did was play hockey and hang out with Jackson but again paralyzed, I can't play, and as for Jackson? He hasn't come to talk to me since I got home. I still didn't know why.

Knock knock knock

"Rece can I come in?" It was Slater

I stayed quiet hoping he would just go away and leave me alone.
But knowing Slater, the chances of that happening are pretty low.

The door slowly opened, creaking slightly as it moved.

"Rece? There's someone here to see you" he said

"Then tell them to go away." I snapped

"Rece come on your going to want to see them."

"No. No I'm not. Tell them to go away."

"I'm not gonna do that."

"Then fuck off asshole." I mumbled

I could see him glance at whoever it was in the hallway out of the corner of my eye, gesturing for them to come in. Why couldn't he just listen and leave me alone?

"Rece?" A familiar voice said

I turned over to see Nova, my older sister, standing in the doorway. A small part of me was happy she was here and finally came to Tulsa. But I just wanted to be left alone.

"Go away" I glared at her

"Rece I've heard all about how you've been pushing everyone away from Slater and that's not fucking happening with me so suck it up."

"No go away!"

"Again not fucking happening." She said as she sat down in the chair by my desk

"Why can't you people just leave me the fuck alone?! You know you'd think after all the shit I've been through all the shit I've ever done you'd just fucking listen to me!" I yelled

"Rece, the last time something like this happened, we left you alone and that didn't go well for you. And you know it."

"There's nothing for me to fucking take! Nothing for me to fucking do! I'm stuck in a goddamn wheel chair!"

"You know that's not true. You'd find a way just like you did last time." Slater chimed in

"Oh fuck off Slater! You can't just fucking show up in town and act like you know everything so fuck off and leave me alone!"

"Rece that's not what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to keep you from ki-"

"Slater just fuck off! I'm not gonna do anything for fucks sake!"

Nova and Slater looked at each other for a second.

"Fine come on Nova." He was angry I could see it in his eyes.

"But-"

"No come on. Now." He cut her off

She looked at me then looked down and followed Slater out of the room.
