"Mom, I feel like I'm gonna be sick again," my daughter groans from the living room. We'd just finished eating dinner and for the third time today, she's about to throw up her meal. It's been like this for over a week now.I walk in with a glass of cold water and paracetamol for her as she had prior been complaining of a headache. "Take this and see how you feel," I offer gently, handing her the glass before pressing my hand against her forehead. "You're a bit warm, honey. Can you take off the blanket?" I question, empathy in my tone as I sit down beside her. "No, it's the middle of winter," she whines before swallowing the pills. "I know, but we can't have your temperature rising anymore than it has."
She sends me a glare before complying and kicking the blanket off, and only a few seconds later is she getting up from the couch and running off to the bathroom.
I follow quickly behind her, pulling as much of her hair back as possible and tracing shapes on her back in attempt to try and soothe her.
Y/N hates vomiting. I'm not really sure anyone enjoys. But Y/N, she sobs every time."I don't like it, Mama," she cries, leaning her back against my chest and curling up into a ball once the contents of her stomach had been emptied. "I know, sweetheart. It will pass though, it's just a bad stomach bug," I whisper, rocking her back and forth slowly.
I've booked her in to see the doctor in a few days to hopefully get a prescription for something a little stronger than the medication you can buy over the counter. Also I want to talk to him about the sudden weight loss I've noticed in my daughter.
I noticed her dropping weight quite quickly about a month ago. My first thought was the maybe she was going through some kind of eating disorder, but I've kept a close eye on her these last few weeks and she doesn't seem to have any issue around food.
So, I wanted to get into the doctor to make sure it wasn't anything to be concerned about. I highly doubt it is, but with the stomach bug now playing a part I can't help but worry a little.

After a very long, rough night of holding back my daughters hair from the toilet bowl, we were both exhausted by sunrise which resulted in sleeping through the entire length of the morning.
I had woken up around midday and got started on a few tasks whilst Y/N slept until three o'clock.
In the evening she came to my bedroom and sat with me, watching the new Matilda movie. She's been running a fever since last night, so I didn't necessarily want to leave her alone in her bedroom.
"Before I forget, I need to ask you something," Y/N mumbles, sitting up properly and turning to face me. "Go on," I smile softly. "I thought this bump was just a bite or something but it keeps getting bigger," she explains, pulling the collar of her shirt down revealing said bump just below her collarbone.
My face freezes in a confused frown for a minute before before I lift my eyes to meet Y/N's. "How long has it been there?" I question concernedly. "A few weeks, maybe a month," she shrugs. "Why didn't you tell me?" I lightly scold, fear filling my mind. "I don't know."
A shaky breath escapes my lips as I nod. "Sweetheart, can you go change into some shorts and a singlet? I need to check your body for any bruising," I question, trying to hide the desperation in my voice. She doesn't question this, only nodding and doing as I ask.
A few minutes later she calls me in, holding her arms across her stomach. Despite her efforts to try and cover it up, I immediately notice the abnormally large bruise on her forearm as well as smaller ones up and down her arms.
My heart feels like it's beating out of my chest. I now realise that what I thought was just a stomach bug could be something a lot more serious. I can't show my fear to my daughter, but I also can't wait until Friday to take her to the doctors.
"Honey, I think it's a good idea if we go to the hospital," I admit. "Why?" She frowns, her eyes becoming fearful. "We just want to make sure it's nothing to be concerned about," I say, trying to put on a brave face. "Can we wait a few more days until I see the doctor? I'm too tired, I just want to sleep," she sighs, a dreadful look on her face.
"I know, my sweet girl. But I don't feel like waiting a few more days is the right decision. We can pack a bag and you can sleep until a doctor sees you," I explain, tucking the loose strands of hair behind her ear.
Y/N sighs heavily, nodding ever so slightly in agreement. "Alright, you can rest for a few whilst I get a couple things together."
