Maddison Johnson was not a very familiar name, she was a quiet girl with very few friends whom she didn't really know if they were actual friends or more acquaintances. It never really bothered her, being alone, her whole life she had been herself, maybe not physically but mentally.
Her parents were both successful lawyers who decided to move to Lima when Maddison was six. They were always busy, leaving Maddison to discover books as a form of entertainment. She loved to read,so she didn't mind being alone, the first book she felt attached to was Matilda, she never understood why but there was something about that little girl she felt connected to,maybe it could be that like Matilda,Maddison was forced to grow up on her own,her parents guided her through life yes,but they never taught her,she was forced to learn herself,I don't think they ever did intend on being that way,I think they were just too busy with their own life's.

The Johnson's were academically strict,At school Maddison had to get straight A's,she wasn't aloud anything under a A- and even getting that was an issue.
With stricter parents there is two ways a child's attitude towards growing up could be,they either rebel against their parents,in hope to get the attention they need,or they obey the rules, meaning they get little attention,Maddison followed under the the second one.She never knew what would happen if for say she got a B+,she never tried it out,it wasn't like she didn't want to though she just didn't have the courage to actually do it.

Maddison was only a sophomore and still didn't know what she wanted to do with her future, she had spent her whole life being fed on what her parents wanted her to do that she hadn't got to decide for herself. She hadn't even turned sixteen yet and already she is writing her college application,Her parents want her to go to the top school and become a successful doctor,(even though they are both lawyers?)but what Maddison did know was that she didn't want to do that, she had her eyes set on New York, not to become a actress or singer or any of that, but to write.

At times it felt as if her life was a Novel,I mean the cliché of her parents meeting at law school says it all and now the fact the quiet girl is fallen for the popular boy,it's written on paper somewhere.
(Oh and the whole stereotype of the rich little girl being forced to take Piano lessons as a kid,Maddison checked that box too.)
