The sunbeams make their way into the ADA's office, there's a calm ambiance about being early to work, no one around to distract you, a rare moment alone with your thoughts. Unfortunately, your time alone gets cut shot when an ever so energized Dazai stumbles though the front door. He greets you with much enthousiasm, seemingly happy about something. About what, you wouldn't know, because you've zoned out and ignored the waterfall of words flowing out of his mouth. You sigh, you can't stay in your own world forever, you'll have to face the reality at some point. With a lack of motivation you zone back in and catch the end of Dazai's sentence "that seems like an successful plan right?? I can't wait to try it out, if only i had some one to come with me..." you look him straight in the eye, with quite a bored expression. He seems to take the hint " ah maybe not " and shrugs his shoulders " it's no fun to commit suïcide with someone who doesn't match your passion for it anyways!" The words fade out as he strolls over to Atsushi's desk. Suddenly the President opens the door to the communal office, and starts going over the assignments for today.
"Kunikida and Dazai, i'd like you to patrol around the area, we've had multiple leads on mafia activity around the area. Do not engage with them, simple try to find out what they're up to. " They simultaneously nod, Kunikida starts packing his bags as Dazai hangs of his shoulders. " Atsushi take some time to introduce kyouka to the way things work around here, we wouldn't want her to get overwhelmed."
"Last but not least (l/n) you'll be assigned to dostoyevsky's file." Right, there were multiple agencies assigned to his case. Every single one who came to close mysteriously dissapeared, It's to be expected with someone as cunning as him. " i want you to find his whereabouts and shadow him, track him down and note anything out of the ordinary, if we want to put a stop to him, we'll need anything we can get out hands on." So a stealth mission it is. You walk up the the president to recieve his files, it's jarringly thin. "Yes sir!" You say with determination to not fail him. The only things disclosed are a grainy picture, some guesses as to his age, height and other physical traits. It isn't much, people died for these discriptions. You can only imagine them relaying the info exhaling their last breath.
You're well fit for stealth missions, your ability: "the one to rule them all" makes you capable of turning youself partially or wholly, into a dragon. It had proven usefull in combat aswell, even though you're nothing close to muscular, your speed exudes you.
Where to start... he has a history of occupying abandoned buildings, so you decide to scan Yokohama for those first while the sun's still out. Strolling along the neighborhood making note of any buildings that fit the description. It's a daunting task, covering this much ground by yourself. You dig in your jacket's pockets and pull out some bluetooth plugs. "If i'm going to do this, might aswell make it as comfortable as possible." You think to yourself, turning up the volume to your favorite game's soundtrack. The hours pass relatively fast, catching you by suprise when the last song on the playlist fades away, and there's nothing in it's place to follow it up. The sun's setting, and leaves behind a gradient of red to yellow in it's trail. You set yourself down on a bench at the park, gazing at the urban skyline. You were so determined when you left the ADA this morning, but all that motivation slowly drained over day. You take out your notepad and go over the list of possible hiding spots, and the info that accompanied them. You searched for Fyodor's picture in your pocket, wanting to ask the photograph where he was hiding. But your hands came up emty as you pulled out the lining of your jackets. A wave of anxiety overcame you, the only picture of Dostoyevsky people had managed to take, seemingly lost due to your stupidity.
"Isn't it a bit late to be out by yourself?" You hadn't noticed anyone nearby... wipping your head over your shoulders in an attempt to identify to source. there was no one in sight, instead, your eyes focused intently on a pitch black shadow in a nearby alleyway. With much trouble, you could make out the person's figure, tall and slim, any other detailes omitted by the shadows. "Are you really one to talk?" You say to the void to the right of you, who was seemingly alone aswell. "My apologies, i simply came to return this to you, seems you must've dropped it" the voice speaks, stepping out of the shadows, offering you the photograph you were so frantically looking for. "Oh.. thank you" you muttered, looking the stranger in the eye for the first time. Hm, that seems familiar? The violet eyes looking back at you, what a unique eyecolor. "I'll get going then, have a great evening" your eyes flicker back to the photograph, but by the time your brain makes the connection he's already gone.
You sit there in complete shock as you try to blink your confusion away. Your hart is still racing and you curse at yourself, both for letting him go, and for having such an extreme reaction. The questions come flooding over you with no one to answer them but yourself. You're still alive? But why? And how? And... the photograph doesn't do him justice one bit. Sure, it's grainy, but even then it doesn't convey even the slight bit of his charisma. The sheer guts the guy has to return his own photograph to the one chasing him. You're taken aback by it for sure, and maybe somewhere, impressed by it aswell. You want to know more, not just for the sake of the investigation, but necause of pure curiosity. You return home with only one thought swirling around your mind.
