Irayo - Thank you
I wake up each morning late for I spend the night awake by the sea. As I step out of my hut which I have to myself, I walk toward the water to greet my ilu, kawaya (ka-wey-ya).
"Good morning." I smiled.
Kawaya began clicking and swimming in circles before nuzzling into me, making me laugh. As I fed her, I heard a commotion in the distance, turning my head in the direction of the noise, the people were gathered by the edge of the shore. I of course made my way to the mob, hopping onto Kawaya as I make my bond with her, feeling her. I patted her side before diving in to the water. As I got closer to the crowd, I come out of the water, breaking the bond and stepping up onto the sand. All of a sudden I felt all eyes on me as I fix the hair in my face.
"Perfect timing, y/n." Tonowari began to speak. I lower my head before him in respect.
As I look to where everyone else was looking a second ago, I see a family of na'vi but I could tell they were not from our clan. They looked odd, their skin a deeper blue lacking certain structures of our bodies that allow us to be in the water. I was intrigued.
"Who knows the ocean better than y/n," Tonowari spoke. "She and my children shall teach you our ways." He said to the bluer people.
"Father, why do I-" Ao'nung protested before quickly being interrupted.
"It has been decided." Tonowari ended.
As I walked closer to them they greeted me by gesturing the words, 'I see you'. I smiled and returned the gesture. Tsireya and Ao'nung following behind me, Ao'nung, on guard.
"Don't get close to them y/n." Ao'nung whispered to me. I ignore him.
Amongst the unfamiliar na'vis were six of them with flying creatures I found fascinating. One was young, three teens and two adults.
It seems that Tsireya and the others were already introduced to, and as I missed most of the chief's speech, Tsireya explained to me what we must do. And that was to welcome them as they will be staying with us, treat them like family and teach them the Metkayina ways. I nodded upon understanding. Circling the interesting na'vis, I take in the faces of our newcomers, my eyes landed on one in particular, his features did not go unnoticed. I could not help but to observe him a little longer than the rest of the na'vis.
"You are y/n?" The boy spoke. "I look forward to learning from you." He smiled.
Looking at the boy, "My friends and I will teach you everything you need to know." Returning the smile. Ao'nung scoffed.
Eventually learning all of their names, one name in particular would not leave my mind, the name belonged to the boy who I was most curious of.
"Ne-tey-am." I sound out to myself, just below a whisper.
As Tsireya showed them around our village, Ao'nung and I stay behind, his friend Rotxo made his way to us. Ao'nung started snickering about the new na'vis.
"The monkeys wanna swim!" He began laughing hysterically, so did Rotxo as the follower he is.
I give them a look, embarrassed to even stand next to them.
"Oh come on y/n, you don't actually think they'll make it out here." Ao'nung spoke.
"With the right teaching I am sure they will manage," I replied. Not having any of his behavior, "I do not understand why you have to be so awful."
"Just stating the facts," Ao'nung replied. "You know I am right y/n, they will never be one of us." I was ticked by his remark.
"This is not what I expect from a future Olo'eyktan, Ao'nung your father will not be happy with your words." I said.
