Lake POV.

"HELP SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!!!!!" I hear a frantic scream and I instantly know where it's coming from. Huntress' room. I thump down the hall and I see her door. I try the doorknob and find it open. I cautiously walk inside and see her. She is frantically trying to escape a nightmare. It breaks my heart.

I immediately run to her and attempt to shake her awake. She won't wake up. My last attempt was to kiss her. I bend down, and lightly brush my lips against hers. Her eyes flutter open and let out a sigh of relief. I didn't even know I was holding my breath. She sits up and hugs me. I kiss her cheek softly.

"Huntress, are you okay?" I say. She shakes her head no and hugs me again. I stroke her hair awkwardly and try to calm her down. She buries her head into my chest and I sigh. She is just so beautiful. But being beautiful is a weakness in men. If we are beautiful, we will get sponsors, which will lead us to being targets. After about 20 mins she stops crying and looks at me.

"Thank you Lake." She whispers. Tears still on her blotchy face. I nod, thinking about the games that will start in less than two weeks.

"Do you want to talk about it?" I ask generously. She slowly nods her head yes and can't seem to look me in the eye. She takes a deep breath and begins her story. Apparently she was dreaming about the games, and it came down two the final eight, her and I still being alive. She told me that when she had her back turned, I started stabbing her with a trident. As she was saying this her eyes turned glassy and looked like she was on the verge of tears. Oh god. Tristen.
Huntress told me that I pulled out the trident in her dream, and stabbed her again. We were in a field so she started to run. She stopped to catch her breath and I attacked. After she was done I assured her that if we got that far, I would never do that to her. She seems to feel better after that, but then she turned around and asked me a question I didn't know how to answer.

"Lake, why did you kiss me?" Her first kiss was me. I remembered Tristen telling me that she never had any boyfriends and giving me a suspicious look when I asked about her.

"Um, I uh, I have liked you ever since I met you. So I guess the Opening Ceremonies and stuff and the circumstances were in and, and-"

"Lake, I was just wondering. But thank you." She cuts me off and smiles. I shyly return the smile and hug her. Slowly, but surely, she wraps her arms around my neck, mine around her waist. We sat there for awhile until it dawned on me that today was the first day of training. The day we would see our opponents for the first time normally, without all the makeup and costumes. I was nervous. What if they're stronger than me! What happens if they're quicker and stealthier than me? Well, no doubt Huntress is. Tristen always was.

"Are you okay now Huntress?" She nods her head yes.

"Thank you Lake, again."

"Anything for my best friends little sis." I reply jokingly. She smiles. It makes me happy, knowing that I was the cause of that smile. Of lots of her smiles. I grin like a fool while walking back to my room to get dressed for training. I wonder what weapon I'll be best with. Well, there's only one way to find out, sadly.

I have to train for the games.
