°●•◇•●° Chapter 14: A Doctor's Visit °●•◇•●°

A week later, Yukiko and Toji started noticing her sudden change in her food preferences. Toji adjusted to her needs effortlessly, however, he grew a bit suspicious of her symptoms.
For some unknown to them reason, she routinely had morning sickness that heavily interfered with her work. So, Yukiko decided to take a sick leave for a little while.
Another week later, she noticed that she was late having her period, which made her even more nervous. Toji was scared that she might have some disease that was fatal to her, so he booked an appointment with a doctor.

It was the day of the doctor's visit. The entire family decided to go together.
They waited in the waiting room for some time, before being called to the room.
"So, Fushiguro-san, tell me what bothers you?" The man, eh looked like he was in his late fifties asked politely.
"I seemed to have this routinely sickness, whenever I smell or eat meat, eggs or milk. I also missed my period last that was to be last week, so my husband and me were a bit worried that I might have some terrible terminal disease or something..." She explained.
"Well, may I ask, when was the last time you have had..." the doctor looked at the small Tsumiki. The woman caught on quite fast and covered her ears.
"I believe about 4 weeks ago." She answered.
"So, then I will ask of you to pee in this cup. We will send it to the laboratory for testing." He said and got a little cup in a plastic bag from his drawer.
The woman quickly took the it and went to the toilet. After coming back with it, she gave it to a nurse. The doctor told them to wait for the results outside and started doing some paperwork.
After what seemed like an eternity to the couple, the test results came back.
"Well, congratulations Fushiguro-san, you are pregnant." The man said with a small smile.
"Okaa-san, Oto-san, what does pregnant mean?" She asked curiously.
"This means you will get to have a younger sibling, Tsumiki." Toji replied with a small smiled of his own.
"Is this, perhaps, your first pregnancy?" The doctor cautiously asked, and the woman nodded. "Then I will tell you a little about prenatal appointments. You are currently on your fourth week. For people with uncomplicated pregnancies, prenatal appointments generally happen every four weeks until approximately week 36 of pregnancy. The next visit is usually around week 38, and then once per week until birth." He explained carefully.
"But who do we contact for the visits? Do we have to come to you again" Toji asked.
"I am sorry, but I will probably not be available for prenatal checkups nowadays. But I can recommend you a pretty good obstetrician, who specialises in this sphere of work and you wil be able to visit her until birth. She might even help you delivering the baby." He started writing multiple things on the paper.
"For your extreme morning sickness I can prescribe some vitamins. If they won't help, come to visit me once more in two or three weeks of time." He write down the exact names of them. A vitamin B-6 supplements (pyridoxine), ginger and drugs such as doxylamine (Unisom).
"They are supposed to help you greatly. And they will completely stop after your first trimester." He told them.
The couple was completely clueless, but tried keeping up with the doctor.
"Here is everything you need. Now, you just have to check in with Dr. Nakamura." He said bid the farewell.
The moment they went out of the room, Toji hugged his wife, elated at the news of their child.
The rest of the day, the family talked about their future plans and so on.

"What dobyou want to name our child, Toji-kun?" She laid, sprawled out on the sheets.
"I don't know..." He said, a little deep in thought.
"I want you to name our firstborn." She said with a smile.
"You will be a great mother." Toji said, hugging the woman closer to himself.
"And you will be a great father." She replied and put his hand onto her slightly bloated stomach. Since she was quite a slim woman, it showed up quite fast. Tomorrow will be their next prenatal appointment, where they would find out the gender of their child.
"I think it's a boy." She said confidently.
"What makes you think like that?" He was amused by her overconfidence.
"Just a mother's intuition." She said and put her handon top of his.
"I hope it's a girl." Toji said, looking at her small baby bump.
"I think a little boy would be cuter, a little version of you running around the house. Wouldn't it be funny?" She chuckled atherown thought.
"I want a daughter, who would look exactly like you. Then she would definitely be the prettiest of them all." He said with a smile of his own.

"Congratulations Fushiguro-san, you are expecting a healthy baby boy." The woman said and gave then a scan of the little baby in her womb.
"See! I told you it was going to be a boy!" She said and hit his arm, laughing triumphantly.
"Yeah, yeah..." He rolled his eyes and stood quietly in the corner with Tsumiki in his hands like always.
"Okaa-san, then it means that I will get a younger brother?" She questioned holding Toji's hands wrapped around herself, sitting on his lap.
Yukiko's heart warmed at the cute scene in front of her.
"Yes, Tsumiki." She replied, looking back at the doctor, waiting for her dismissal.
"Well, yoy can take this, if you don't have any complaints or anything like that, you may leave." She laughed at the pregnant woman's expression.
They gathered all of their things and left the clinic.
The small family arrived back home and Toji instantly went to the kitchen to make some lunch for them, while Yukiko played a bit with Tsumiki until she got tired.

"I am so tired, Toji-kun." The girl whined.
"You just walked for ten minutes. How can you be tired already?" The man held her forearm, as she sat down on a bench.
"Okaa-san, you are so lazy!" Tsumiki shouted and ran towards the nearest swings she noticed. Luckily it wasn't too far away from them.
"Give me a break, I am on my second trimester already." She said a little out of breath.
"This is so weird, since you usually have a great stamina." Toji pointed out, making Yukiko blush a bit.
"I am so done with pregnancy. The moment I am done birthing him, I will finally get back to working." She said with an annoyed expression all over her face.
"Sure, sure..." Toji dismissed her usual complaining.
"Oto-san! Push me, push me!" Tsumiki said with a happy face.
Toji complied, standing and walking towards their little daughter. He pushed the swings, as the little girl laughed wholeheartedly. At that moment, Yukiko thought only of one thing.
For this moment to never end.
