With a grumble and a yawn, you sat up and stretched your arms.
You haphazardly rubbed your exposed eye through the crack in your screen, and looked around. Uzi lay fast "asleep" next to you. You got a bit embarrassed and got out, standing up.
N was.. Hanging from the ceiling, playing on Uzi's computer still. He was still too absorbed into what he was searching up, he didn't even notice you. You looked at what he was searching up.
Something about human anatomy? So, he was curious about what you were. What would you do now? In slight reluctance, you grabbed a cabbage and peeled a bit off of it and ate it.
Sure, it tasted like shit but food was food. Not like you were gonna find another can of pringles or something in the sno- WAIT HOLD ON!
If this place was an abandoned city, SURELY there was super markets still there!
Maybe most of the food would be expired but there would be stuff left over right?..
You stood there, thinking.
Wait... This planet was left alone for a century, I don't think there'd be anything edible left.
(I don't know how long the planet was abandoned for so uh, yeah that'll do. My reasoning for this is; If they built a whole damn bunker with an education system and more generations of children that would take a while. )
You sighed, sitting back down.
Uzi was slightly startled, sitting straight up in shock.
She looked at you, then at N.
Curious at what N was doing, she got out of bed and stood next to him, looking at what he was doing. Looked like she was curious as well. You were confused by what they were so interested in, and peered over N's shoulder.
Was that a fucken Wikipedia article?
You stood up once more, getting closer.
Looks like some regular human stuff.
Maybe it would help them understand, but I don't think you can get through how fragile you are in comparison to them. Hell, maybe even Uzi could break your arm with one hand.
But you had this sick (now damaged) suit.
Most of the holes in the suit filled up while you were asleep, but it looked like the crack in the screen revealing one of your eyes was taking some time.
Blood still clung to your suit, dirtying the pure white.
"Hey Uzi, do you guys have showers or something like that?"
Uzi: "What's a shower?"
"Shit..."
Seems you were gonna stay covered in blood for a while.
With the duo occupied, you alone stepped outside into the halls.
Seemed like people were always busy here.
They got a bit more acclimated to you being there, and stopped giving you looks.
I mean, you haven't killed a single drone yet.
Sure, you got close, like... 2 or 3 times?
But nobody is dead so that's gotta count for something.
You silently trudged through the halls, looking for something to do.
You glanced at one of the posters on the wall, something to do with "Khan Doorman"
Apparently he has some sort of a problem with his child.
Wait, drones have last names? That's funky.
Something about Uzi... Doorman?
Apparently her dad is some kind of leader of the WDF.
Wow... "How to deal with your failure of a child?"
That's certainly something.
The people filed by you in the hall, busy as ever.
Some of them were teens, some adults.
It didn't really matter, since with your suit you were taller than all of them.
(For reference, Uzi is only up to N's chest, if only barely.)
School in Earth was unbearable, so you got curious how it was here.
You tapped a familiar looking green eyed drone on the shoulder while he walked by.
What was his name again? Thad?
"Hey, uh... Thad, where are ya going?"
Thad: "To class."
"Oh, cool, can I tag along?"
Thad: "Sure?.. You look a bit old for school."
"I'm 15, come on."
(I'm not gonna make some 20-something year old make MGRR and ULTRAKILL references ok?)
Thad: "Oh right, you're a human..."
He silently continued on his way, so you followed suit.
Eventually, you passed into his classroom.
The teacher looked a little weirded out that you were here but continued anyway.
You went for a seat, bored.
Teacher: "Today, we're gonna be..."
His voice trailed off, eyes resting on you.
Teacher: "Who are you?"
Everyone turned their heads to look at you, immediately looking away when you turned to look at them with your human eye.
"Just some guy."
The teacher sighed, pressing some sort of button on his remote.
The projector lit up, showing the Captcha I'm not a robot system on the board.
Your curiosity sank into nothingness.
With a disappointed look on your face, you stormed out of the classroom, accidentally breaking the door on the way out.Surely, they couldn't ALL be learning the same thing... Right?
You peered into another classroom, curiosity rekindled.
Uzi sat impatiently inside, playing with her railgun.
As you went to look at the board, you sneezed, catching the attention of everyone inside.
Uzi's eyes darted to look at you.
Uzi: "You... I.."
"Uhhh, wrong class."
You quickly waltzed away, a bit embarrassed.
They just do captchas all day? Jesus christ.
Guess it was time to look for this Khan guy.
The photos had him have a mustache...
The WDF were the guys that made the doors, so you went to the entrance of the bunker.(Timeskip~)
You knocked on the inner-most door, impatient.
"Yo, is Khan there?"
WDF3: "Nope, what's up?"
"Ah, damn, can you open up anyway?"
WDF3: "Alright then..."
With a whoosh, the door and the door behind it opened, revealing a lone drone.
"Where are your buddies?"
WDF3: "Went to get some coffee."
"SHIT, YALL GOT THAT HERE?!"
You felt alive again, there was a hope, there was a chance!
WDF3: "Yeah, you sound like you want one. I'll fetch you a cup."
"You have no Idea how much that would mean to me, thanks."
You took a step towards the outer-most door.
Beyond that giant hunk of metal lay the frozen wasteland.
You sat against it, bored.
V: "Hello, X."
You jerked a bit in surprise, before regaining your composure.
"Were you just sitting on the other side waiting for someone to talk to?"
V: "Those door guys aren't very talkative."
"Wonder why."
"J with you?"
J: "Yes."
"Why are you two here? You know better."
J: "There's a reason why two company workers would ditch their loyalty, and I want to know why."
You could almost feel V's eyes roll.
"I came here as a 2nd chance. Life was shit on Earth, so I guess living among robots that want me dead is slightly better."
A bit of a clanking noise was made as J sat down, chatting.
J: "And the idiot?"
"Oh, biscuit boy? Shared with him my point of view."
J: "Which is?"
"J, why are you loyal to the company?"
J: "I.."
"There's zero reason to work for them, there's nothing stopping you from just being alive."
J: "I'm a robot build for a purpose! I can't just be a human!"
"There's almost no difference between you and me y'know?"
Silence.
"You think, talk, and COULD act on your own volition, but choose not to."
"Why? To give up your freedom to a company that will dispose of you all the same, regardless of how loyal you are or how much you do for them."
"You seem like the idiot here."
V: "If we don't kill worker drones, how are we meant to get oil to not die?"
"There are oil deposits spread throughout the planet."
"Tell me one good reason why you shouldn't just stop killing drones and just live?"
J: "Live?"
"Find the love of your life, find a purpose, cliché shit."
"As much as I despise the whole thing, it has some merit."
V: "I don't think I could ever do something like that."
"Why not?"
V: "Boring."
"It doesn't have to be."
"One day, you'll find it."
V: "It?"
"A passion, a goal, something to strive for, some relentless drive to accomplish something."
"It might be your drive to protect what you hold dear, your passion for another, your blazing desire to fix the world around you. It's completely different for everyone."
V: "Guess I just like killing things."
"Is that you or your programming talking?"
More silence.
"Look, if you ever want to switch sides, I can come meet up with you."
J: "B-but, what if they-"
"You have no comms relay, they have no way to know, if they send more down we can either convince or kill.
V: "I think I like that plan."
"I think you like it just because I said the word kill."
J: "There's no way they're gonna just allow us to go in, they know what we've done."
"Then fix it. Everyone has their sins. Repent. It just so happens that yours is murdering a few generations."
J: "If that's true then whats yours?"
"That's... Not relevant."
You heard some footsteps from down the hall, probably that guy.
"Alright, they're coming back, I'll head here tomorrow, its your choice."
The sound of their heavy metallic wings resounded through the night, piercing the bunker doors. Standing up, you approached the WDF worker that brought you your coffee.
"Thank you, truly."
You took a sip, fuck was that black coffee?
Meh, no place to complain, coffee is coffee.
With a nod to the worker, you trodded back down to Uzi's dorm room.
Maybe we can have peace?
