With N in tow, you were outside the bunker headed towards the giant corpse spire that lay in the middle of the dead city. Frigid winds hit you once more, even with the suit on it was still really god damn cold. You tried your best to shake  the feeling, if you made any reference to the cold N would be more suspicious of you. How had he not figured it out yet, you slipped up so many times already. Maybe he already knew. Maybe he was waiting for the right time to strike.
Okay, calm down. You can trust N, right? He seems dumb and lovable enough. But just maybe its a front... ALRIGHT ENOUGH 2ND GUESSING.

N: "So, what was so important you wanted to head back out here?"

Well, you couldn't let him see or know what it was, since a SURVIVAL kit is obviously meant for something that's not meant to be there.

"Just didn't feel accepted in the bunker."

You really shouldn't have said that. You really wanted to go back there regardless of how they treated you. Anything but this wasteland.

"N, where are your co workers?"

N: "They're out patrolling when they're not charging."

"They're no doubt looking for you. Head on a swivel."

N: "What does that mean?" He inquired, a puzzled look on his screen.

"Means stay alert. You hear or see something, you tell me."

While you were walking with nothing to do, you really got a good look at the handiwork of the disassembly drones. Scattered corpses everywhere. Some charred, some cleaved in half, some with their limbs missing. They really loved their variety, huh? Even drones get bored.
God, your throat was so dry you were considering melting the snow. (For those of you wondering why you didn't do that, toxic death storms have been ravaging the planet, making it deadly.)

The buildings around you were decayed, holes abundant. Even some human skeletons remained, although few and far between. Broken cars littered the streets, they really had something going for them here. While you were looking at your surroundings, N stopped walking, lost in thought.

"Something wrong, N?"

N: "I have a question for you, X."
That was not good.

"Uhhh... S-sorry but I'm not in the mood for questions ..."
He glared at you.
You didn't even know N could be scary but he sure as hell was now.

N: "I'm low on battery so I'm gonna recharge, I'll be hanging at the top of the spire."

"Y-yeah. Go ahead, I'll be searchin around."

With a sigh of relief, you looked around in the snow for your kit.
After a while, you were a bit lost in the city, but you saw the spire, so you always had a way to get back. Something glistening at you in the snow drift, and you went towards to look at it.
YOUR SURVIVAL KIT!
You dove at it, holding it in your hands you almost felt tears well up.
Ah. Water, at last.
You basically tore off your helmet, guzzling down the entire bottle.
Stupid and inefficient yeah, but you were so thirsty it didn't really matter to you.
And, the other prized item you specifically requested be in the survival kit.

A can of pringles

While inspecting some corpses, your suits sensors picked up something watching you. Two yellow ovals peered from the darkness.

"You wanna introduce yourself? Actually, you dont need to. V."
You heard some cursing and grumbling before she came out of the darkness and landed infront of you.
"J brief you or what?"

V: "She did, but I don't trust you yet."

"Why? I'm a disassembly drone, just like you guys."
You weren't sure how long you could lie with a straight face.
You prayed to whatever deity was still alive that your body wouldnt make any kind of noise.

V: "J called me insane, and took off to hunt so I came to test you myself."
From the stories N told you while you were walking, something told you J was right.

"Test? What do you mean?"

V: "How long can a disassembly drone go without charging?"
Oh. You really were fucked.
N was charging, Uzi was gone.
You however, did not pay attention during your training. You barely even remembered her name.

"Uhm... Uhhhhh..."

"I ... Never really took the time to count so..."

V: "Who are you?"

"S-serial designation X!"

V: "Cut the bullshit you know what I mean."

Stay calm, you need to weigh out your options.
Could you run? Probably not, she knew how to fly much better than you.
Fight? You had a chance but didn't know the extent of her abilities.
Reason? Excuse! Think of one, quick!

"I-i... Need to go."

V: "Sure."

Now THAT was something you couldn't trust. Both of you stood there for a moment, looking into each others eyes, waiting for someone to make the first move.

"I'm just gonna..."
You slowly turned around and started walking away.
Feeling unsafe, you turned back and V was still there, staring at you.

"..."
"You're staring."
V: "I know."

Well, that was unnerving.
You continued walking, until you heard some shuffling behind you.
Out of reflex, you formed your sword and turned around.

V was gone.

In a panic, you looked around you, checking your sensors for any movement.

Nothing.

Shit shit shit, where is she, she's gunning for my ass, I'm sure.

A small crunch of snow resounded behind you, making you turn around and strike.
Turning around, there was nothing.

V: "Checkmate."

You put Murasama in its' sheath, pulling the trigger.
The blade shot out lightning quick, allowing you to parry V's would be deadly strike
She recoiled in shock, not having expected you would be able to react.
Continuing your assault, you stepped forward slashing twice in an X motion.

"How long can you last?!" You taunted.

She blocked the first swipe, but for the second one, she stepped back and hit your wrist. Your sword flew back, embedding itself into the ground.

You glanced back at your sword, thinking of an alternative way to fight her. And just then, it struck you.

"Show me a good time, V!"

You reformed the remaining metal in your body to cover your fists and forearm in extra metal, now you could fight with your hands.

V dashed forwards, a maniac smile on her face while slashing rapidly at you.
Her laughter echoed throughout the city while you tried your best to parry her attacks with your hands. After her flurry of attacks, she winded up her right hand for a heavy swing.
Seeing the semblance of what Sam did to Raiden when they first met, you grinned.

Instead of using your fists still, you quickly reverted the metal on your hands into another sword.
You shoved the sword back in its sheath, and right when her hand was about to hit you; You pulled the trigger. In one swift badass movement, you cleaved her right arm off.

Never have you ever felt this good in your life.

V stepped back, looking where her arm used to be.
This time, it was YOU who was smiling.
Wait... Hold on... Did she just...
Your smile retreated into a horrified gasp.
You forgot they can regenerate body parts.
Someone landed behind you, sending snow everywhere.

"N, can you give me a hand her-..."

That was not N.
