(set around the end of season two)

ALL Elaine can think about as she drives along the freeway is how she's going to buy her daughters next meal, with only a five dollar bill in the cup holder of her car she has to ration what she has.

Said two year old child wiggles in her car seat, her feet kicking the back of Elaine's chair to entertain herself.

Elaine didn't mind, she could deal with a tender back later instead of a raging migraine from a screaming child.

Eyeing a lonely building up ahead she squints her eyes as the sun glints, trying to catch a look at the sign on top of the building.

She quickly turns her blinker on, signalling she's pulling up to park in front of the graffiti'd building.

Once parked she stares at it for a moment longer before deciding she should take a look at what they had, it was nearing five in the afternoon and the nearest town was still two hours away.

If she was going to find something to feed her daughter, it needed to be now.

Once out of the car with Mavis on her hip she slowly approaches the building, flies buzzing around the sliding door as though no one has entered in a while.

With a shake of her head she enters the store, hoping to atleast get a packet of biscuits for Mavis to snack on.

The young girl on her mothers hip stares around the dim shop curiously, hands reaching out to touch anything close to her as she babbles aimlessly.

"I know, i'm hungry too" Elaine mumbles to her child, her spare hand coming up to stroke Mavis' curls.

Aisle after aisle until she reached the very last, nothing was below five dollars, save for some expired crackers and a few canned foods but how is Elaine expected to feed her daughter that?

With a sigh she takes a step back, something brushing against her shoulder which makes her shiver, instantly turning around with wide eyes.

A woman who looks to be in her seventy's stares at the child on her hip, mouth open and breath's loud for every ear to hear.

Giving the lady a look Elaine backs up, trotting back over to the snack aisle for coverage.

Eyeing off the packet of expired crackers she picks it up, frowning as she makes her way to the checkout.

Once back in her car she opens the crackers, putting one in her mouth to test before passing one back to Mavis, keeping a close eye on her as she sucks the salt off it.

Rubbing her lips together as she pulls out to begin her journey on, all she can think about is how much of a relief it'll be when she finally reaches her destination.
