(set in season three episode one)"I don't think i've seen him so happy before" Monica, who was introduced as Tate's mother stated, a soft smile on her face as she watched Mavis and Tate run around with each other.
Elaine hummed, the two women leaning against a fence post as they supervised their children. "Mavi hasn't ever had anyone around her age to play with before, she's probably getting a real kick out of this"
Monica chuckled, resting her chin on her arm in relief at seeing Tate carefree.
"I'm just glad he's out of the house" Monica stated, pausing before deciding that her new friend was someone she could trust. "After everything that's happened to him he's just been so terrified and difficult to care for"
"Was it bad?" Elaine questioned quietly.
She didn't want to impose too much, especially after the state she'd seen the young boy in when they were first introduced to eachother.
Monica sighed, nodding with a crestfallen look on her face. "He's been too scared to come out here and even feed Lucky"
"Lucky?" she asked, not knowing who it was.
"His horse" The Long woman elaborated.
Elaine nodded in understanding, smiling when Mavis squealed in excitement from Tate chasing her.
"So how long are you here for?" Monica questioned, wanting to get to know the woman a bit more if she was to stay a while.
"Don't know yet, just depends on how everything pans out I guess" She shrugged, sparing a quick glance to her right where Monica was already watching her with interest.
"Staying in the bunkhouse?" She questioned further, eyebrows pulled together in concern.
Elaine hummed with a nod, receiving a chuckle from Monica aswell as a 'good luck'.

"So it's basically just camping?" Elaine stated after Colby told her of their plans to set up camp and babysit a herd of cattle for a while.
"Hm, kinda" He responded, leading Mavis over to his cot in the bunkhouse as the others piled in, immediately taking off their hats.
"Are you sure you want the couch? I don't like how I just showed up and kicked you from your own bed" Elaine asked unsurely, watching as Mavis tried to climb onto the bed that was just too high for her.
"Honestly El it's fine, besides Mavis needs a good nights rest anyway" He reassured, patting her shoulder briefly before going over to greet the others.
Elaine took her time tucking Mavis in, making sure the young girl was comfortable with the chatter echoing around the room, and didn't leave her side until she had fallen asleep, mouth slightly open and lips pouted.
After saying hello to everyone she sat beside Lloyd, who she'd quickly warmed up to seeing as he was extremely kind to her during their first interaction.
Ryan, who'd been the last to enter the room, looked around with wide eyes before frowning.
"Where is she?" He asked and the room got quiet in confusion.
"Dude they've been here all of four hours and all you've done is hog her" Colby exclaimed, the two quickly falling into argument over the child as the room returned to its natural state.
After taking a quick shower and settling herself in one of Colby's large shirts she shifted Mavis further to the wall and climbed in, hoping to get a decent sleep.
She drifted off to the sound of everyone drinking beer and chatting to themselves, aswell as an occasional erupt of cheers from everyone, which would be quieted almost as soon as it started.
CHARLIE'S DAYCARE !
