minho walked onto the campus, his mom trailing behind him. he looked down at his phone and then back up at the building again, "this is it.." he said before entering it.

"hi um..my names lee minho..i think my dorm is in this building?" he said to the worker behind the desk.

"ah yes" he checked the list in front of him, "lee minho, room 188 on the seventh floor.." he handed minho the keys.

"thank you" he bowed his head slightly and took the keys, walking over to the elevator.

"nervous?" his mom asked, minho shook his head, "your father would be proud of you min.."

the boy just nodded and smiled.

once the elevator reached the seventh floor, the pair got out and located room 188. minho opened the door with his key and smiled when he saw the place, it was quite spacious for a student dorm,

he placed his bag on the floor and took the box from his mom, "i told you not to carry this" he scolded her, "you're arms will hurt"

she smiled as she shook her head, "stop worrying about me min..let's go grab the other bags from the car"

he nodded again, "mhm okay"

~

"remember to call me if you need anything okay?" she hugged her son one last time, "and make sure you eat properly"

the boy laughed, "i will mom, just get in the car it's cold!" he waved as she finally got into the car.

once the car had driven off, he sighed and picked up the remaining boxes, stacking them on top of each other as he walked back into the building.

"oh let me help you with that" a boy said, picking up one of the boxes.

minho smiled, "ah thank you.."

they stepped into the elevator and minho clicked the button for the seventh floor, "i'm chan by the way, i live on the floor above you"

"minho" he smiled at the blonde again, "are you a first year student too?" he was curious to see if anyone else his age was just starting university.

the blonde shook his head, "nope, it's my third year here" he replied, "why is it your first year?"

"mhm, i took some time off after graduating school" he stepped out of the elevator and pulled out his keys.

"ah alright" he placed the box on the floor of the dorm, "well, good luck..and uh let me know if you need help with anything" he smiled and handed minho his phone, "you can add your number!"

minho nodded and typed in his number, "thank you so much for your help" he bowed his head again.

"no worries" chan replied before heading back to the elevator.

the boy shut the front door and sighed as he looked at the empty dorm, "well..this is going to be exciting.."

minho started to unpack his things.

~

he spent the whole night setting up his dorm room because he couldn't fall asleep, he'd decorated his room and rearranged the furniture so it resembled his old bedroom.

minho decided he hated the colour of the accent wall in the living room and wanted to paint over it, he'd probably get fined by the university but he didn't care, he hated the colour scheme.

so he went to the nearest convenience store and bought some grey paint and paint brushes.

when he got back to his dorm, he started painting over the bright red accent wall. it took him a while to finish the first layer but it was already looking better.

while he waited for the paint to dry, he made himself some instant ramen and coffee to make the time go faster.

"fuck" he looked at the time, it was already 4am. he finished his food and went back to painting the wall.

roughly an hour later, minho had painted over the wall completely and all traces of the ugly red were gone.

he stepped back and admired his new wall, "beautiful.." he said to himself, he thought he'd done a pretty good job at covering the previous colour.

minho cleaned up the mess he'd made and packed away the paint into a small cupboard before heading to his room and getting into bed. he sighed as he stared at the ceiling, maybe he should've shared a dorm with someone.
