minho was never extremely close with his dad, but they had a decent relationship. as a child he would always stay with his mom and refused to leave her side.

on the first day of school, minho cried his eyes out because he thought the teachers were trying to take him away from his mom. she explained to him that she'd be back at the end of the day and that convinced him to stay at school for the day.

he was extremely upset when his dad came to pick him up and didn't talk to his mom for days after that.

when minho was a teenager, he and his dad argued a lot. it was mostly over little things but because their personalities were so similar, they'd argue almost everyday. that's when minho told his dad 'i wish you were never my dad' and didn't talk to him for almost three months.

his mom was the one who convinced him to start talking to his dad again and in his final year of high school, they started getting along better than ever before.

both minho and his dad put in the effort to repair their broken relationship.

his mom was so happy to see them finally getting along. she knew how much minho really loved his dad, and how much his dad loved him.

during minhos final exams, his dad got really sick, but didn't tell his son as he didn't want to stress him even more. so he kept quiet about his illness until after minho had finished all his exams.

they were all sat together while minho applied for university's when he told him.

it broke minhos heart.

he'd only just repaired his relationship with his dad and now it was going to be snatched away from him again.

"i'm not going to uni this year dad..i can't leave you and mom while you're sick" he told them.

his dad encouraged him to still apply and promised minho that he'd get better soon. so minho applied and even got into all the ones that he wanted to get into.

a month before minho was meant to start his degree, his dads condition got worse and he ended up in hospital.

minho immediately contacted the university and told them he wouldn't be attending this year.

"he can't die" minho yelled at the doctor, "you can't let him die, do your fucking job and save him"

"please try to understand we can't do an-"

"you can do something you're just choosing not to!" he screamed as tears ran down his face, "you can't let him die"

minhos mom pulled him into a hug, "it's okay min..we'll get through this together" she was crying too.

he hated seeing his mom cry.

"he'll be fine..w-we'll take him to another doctor and he'll be f-fine" he wiped his moms tears.

his dad got worse that night and the doctors urged minho and his mom to say their goodbyes.

minho sat beside the hospital bed, holding in his tears as his mom hugged his dad for the last time. "take good care of her minho, and take care of yourself too.."

the boy nodded, "i will.."

minho got up and left the room, he didn't want to be in the hospital any longer. he regretted not telling his dad he loved him, it was his last chance to say it but he didn't.

now he would never be able to tell his dad he loved him.

the day after his dad passed, minho locked himself in his room and refused to talk to anyone. his friends and family tried so hard to get him to come out but he didn't listen to anyone.

even his boyfriend at the time couldn't convince him to get out of the room and talk to someone.

he stayed in that room for a whole week.

he ended up coming out of the room when his mom sat outside with his cats all night, she hugged him and made him some of his favourite food once he left the room.

"we'll be okay minho" she ruffled his hair.
