Chapter 3: Sleepover!

After Alex called the police it took them no longer than about 7 minutes to get there. Mara still wasn't moving off of Mark, he did keep trying to get away though. Once the police arrived, Alex directed them inside to where Mara and Mark were. When she saw the police coming in, she finally moved off of Mark and a police officer cuffed him. For a quick second, she thought the police officer would recognize her... But he didn't.

She thought that he either just didn't see her face or that he was new... probably new. You could feel the tension when Mark got up and then stared Mara down.

" I thought you loved me, why would you turn me in?" He said to her.

" Because you're an ass and I'm not sure how I didn't see it before but you made me rob all those stores for you just for money, not to buy a house together! We are done Mark, have fun in jail"

Mark was about to say something back but the police officer cut him off "Alright let's go" and he pushed Mark out the door.

Mara hugged Alex after Mark left and they watched as Mark was driven off. She started to cry a little realizing that the man she once thought was her boyfriend was a store robber who only cared about money.

Alex felt a tear fall on his shirt. " Hey, you alright?"

" Not really" She sniffled, " Once I saw that it was Mark or when I thought it was him, I just got really angry and adrenaline kicked in"

" Well if it makes you feel any better I thought what you did was badass" He smiled.

" Uhm I did too" The store clerk came up from behind the counter.

" Oh my god, I'm so sorry I forgot you were there" Mara laughed a little.

" It's fine," He shrugged.

" Did he take any money from you?" Alex asked.

" Luckily no, he was only in here for a couple of minutes before you guys showed up"

" I'm glad to see that he didn't take anything from you," Mara smiled again and nodded reassuringly.

" Yeah I'm alright, you kids get home and I'll clean up this little mess"

" Okay," They both said.

" Thank you miss," The store clerk said as they were walking out, Mara turned around. " I don't know what would have happened if you didn't show up"

" You're very welcome sir, have a good night"

" You too"

Mara and Alex left the store and started to walk back to the car.

" You're amazing Calvert, I hope you know that" Alex mentioned while unlocking the car.

" I already knew that but thank you" Mara smiled. The rest of the way home Alex and Mara talked about how they would explain what happened to their parents, or would they just lie. Little did they know that they didn't need to lie. Once Alex made it to Mara's apartment building, he parked the car.

" Do you wanna come in with me?" Mara asked.

" Yeah I can and then if it's okay with your mom, you can spend the night at my place?"

" Okay" She smiled and nodded, unbuckling her seatbelt, then they headed in.

Once they walked in, Mara saw her mom standing by the tv with a weird expression and the remote to her mouth. She then looked down to see the security cam footage of what happened at the convenience store. With the heading Local teen takes down a robber at a nearby convenience store... In a dress!
