snowfall

everything is so quiet

the only thing i can hear:

the subtle crunch of snow

it makes noise as i step

i take a moment to pause

and watch the small flakes fall

entranced by their beauty

delicate and stunning at once

when i look back down

you are there in front of me

standing and watching

watching me as i watch the snow

i wish you would leave

but that's just a lie i tell myself

in reality, i want you to stay

i want you to stay so badly it aches

you do, stay i mean

you stay right where you are

20 feet away in the swirl of snow

and you watch me watch the snow
