Felix didn't knew what to think of his knew life. His father didn't really seems to care about him, yet he also seemed to be doing his best. For the two days that his father took off to meet him, he spent two on the phone, telling Felix to do as he wanted.
On the third day, he had left Felix a hundred pound and left him alone, telling him to order whatever he wanted to eat. The fourth was the same, so Felix watched the tv all day. The fifth he found the channel that broadcasted his favourite show, he didn't like the english version very much but it was better than anything and at least he learned some new words.
And finally the sixth day, his father told him, "Found you a new school kid, they've agreed to have you for the rest of the year. Now plenty of my friends have their children in your class, so be nice, okay ?" he asked in a severe tone.
Felix could only nod, and went to get the stuff his father had got him. Surprinsingly, he had found that his father had sent him in a school were they had to wear a uniform, and it seemed really expensive. Richard helped his son to wear his uniform correctly, and reminded him of a few rules that differed from France, and dropped him off.
When he first arrived, a nice looking women came to take him from his father, "Thank you for your trust Mr. Robson, your son is in good hands." she smiled to him right before he left. She then asked Felix to follow her, "You'll see Felix, here you're going to make loads and loads of friends, so make sure your nice with everyone okay ?." she asked as the bell rang.
She entered a class and made him follow her. "Everyone, this is Felix Robson, he just arrived from France and he will be staying with us until the end of the year. So everyone be nice with him okay ?", the class answered with a 'yes Miss Lorreyyyyy.' and Miss Lorrey pointed his seat to Felix.
Being the new student, he was at the back of the class, against the wall. Everyone turned to look at him at random moments of the class so he felt very embarrassed. He didn't like people very much. In his last school he only had two friends and they were twins from another wizarding family so it wasn't as weird as ignorant muggles. When the first break arrived, many kids came to introduce themselves, Felix introduced himself back with his light french accent that caused many kids to ask him questions about France.
Since he didn't really knew what to talk about except quidditch and that they didn't seem to listen to anything than classical music, he didn't have anything to say, so the other students started to talk about themselves instead. There was a kid named Matthew Williams who kept bragging about his father, one girl, Margareth Brown, kept asking if he knew that or that place in France.
Lunch break was the same, he did his best to chat back, but he just disliked so much attention. Class was boring, math was so easy, his mother had made him do more advanced math because Beauxbatons's math class was a bit more advanced than regular muggle schools. When class finally ended, Feliex hurried toward the exit, where his dad seemed dissapointed that he wasn't surrounded by his classmates.
Felix hid from his classmates behind his father, while he chatted with some friends of his. When coming back, Richard didn't asked how was school, he only said, "I'm going to work tonight, do you want to see where i work at night ?", it wasn't really a question, but Felix still agreed, he only knew casino's where a place where adults played games and where kids weren't authorized. "But, Mom said children weren't allowed inside ?" he asked. Richard smile, "Usually, but i own the place, and you are my son, so i do as i want."
The Golden Gate Casino was huge. There were three floor with different kind of games. The top one was the most wonderfull, as it was filled with magic. "The third floor is said to be a secret attic or the kitchen, actually most people enter by special portkey, it's just for us wizards, in the building, the entrance is secret." Richard told his son.
He gave Felix a huge tour of the casino and gave him some food from the buffet, and then he took him into his office. "Why don't you show me that card game, i'm going to teach you a few games.
For two entire hours, Richard taught his son how to play some games. He started with some Poker then black Jack, baccarat and finally the solitary and some trick to shuffle the cards. Felix found it funny, his father bet some chocolates, and might have let Felix win a few. Another hour later, Felix was asleep on the couch, as his father continued to have some fun with other people outside the office.
The next day at school, Felix took his cards out during every breaks, under his classmates's curious looks, he played the solitary again and again. He lost quite a few times, then he decided to cheat a little as he didn't have the patience to start all over again. Slowly, his classmates lost their interest in him, some still came to chat and watch him play cards. Matthew William actually taught him and Margaret Brown how to play President and the three of them played until both Matthew and Margaret were bored. Felix, for once, wasn't bored, he actually liked card games, he found them interesting. Some like president, were fun because the tables turned everytime, it was unexpected, and some like Poker, were fun because you had to bluff, and solitary was a good way of killing boredom.
This night again, he asked his father to teach him some more games. And little by little, it became his favourite activity.
