Chapter 16 Confrotning Eden

Mask's P.O.V. (Y'all thought I forgot didn't ya)
Me and Jetstream were flying over top Orchard Island. The people and their Pokémon looked happy. At that point I realized maybe I should drop the whole Enigmatic Hero act. At least while I'm here. We touched down on the west coast of the island I disengaged the non essential parts of my gear and put a Bandana over my jaw since the mask would give me away. After what happened in Drift,I don't want people looking for me. I returned Jetstream to their Pokeball,and sent out the Ursaring I found in the Tyraglyph caves. "I need to come up with a name for you don't I?" She looked at me with a smile. "How about.....Borea?" She nodded. "Alright than Borea let's head into town. I combined my batons into a staff to help me walk,since I had to turn off the supports on my boots to keep myself hidden. Me and Borea made our way through the trees to find the village where the locals lived. They have basic tech like Pokeballs,and equipment of the like,but the rangers stationed here weren't allowed full access to our usual commodities. It took a moment for the locals to notice me but I was noticed by the village elder. "Why hello there stranger. I've not seen your face around here before,what brings you to orchard island?" The elder didn't look like much,but you could tell by the pendant he wore he had a connection with Aura,a rather deep one given the presence he gave off. "I came here to investigate the sightings of that large Salamence your people have seen in the skies around y'all's island." He smiled. "Ah so another person coming to solve our Dragon problem. In recent days we've been trying to expand up onto the mountain at the center of our island,but every time we even get close that Salamence,and it's rider disrupt our progress." I quickly retorted. "So there is a rider involved." "Yes however we haven't been able to find out who among our people would try and do this." I than noticed someone with dark skin and hair that looked like a cottonee's cotton. "Who is she?" The old man looked at her. "That is Marie. She is my granddaughter. And she will be your guide here on the island." At that point Marie made her way over to us. "If I'm guiding him,I have to know is name first gramps." Shit,I can't give her my actual name. Or at least not my last. "The name's Callan. And this bundle of ursine might is Borea. I have other Pokémon but I figure she's best suited to doing this job." Marie sent out her partner it being a beautiful florges with orange petals. "This is my partner her name is Naranja. Now let's head to the mountainside." After we got out of the village I noticed that while Marie had a connection to aura her florges wasn't what she had a connection to. But I noticed that there was a piercing blue light coming off of her belt,from a Pokeball I hadn't noticed before because it was hidden behind her hair. We got to the base of the mountain,but on the other side of the mountain opposite of where the villagers were working on expanding. At that point she pulled out a brown and red cloak and threw it over herself. She returned naranja to her ball. She looked back at me. "Listen. I know you think your helping,but your doing the opposite. If I allow my grandfather access to the mountain,he will forsake my mother's legacy,and what she stood for." I noticed her disposition had changed. I reached out to her. "So your the rider than. And I'm assuming that Pokeball you keep hidden behind your hair is your true partner?" She grit her teeth and sent out the largest Salamence I'd ever seen. It's wingspan was at least about 20 feet. But it had a massive scar across it's snout and even more on its underbelly. "Listen kid. I'm certain we can talk things out here." "I am as well." I felt that chill again. The chief had arrived. "Now Marie I've already told you. What your mother did for our people won't be forgotten. But we cannot simply let her legacy get between us and progress for our people." The Salamence growled as she retorted. "Says you. Once she died you refused to listen to anyone even your own son in law. You exiled my father,and proceeded to ignore and neglect your granddaughter,not to mention your deals with the poachers. I found this guy in one of your traps you had set around the mountain. I got him out of it,and now me and him work together to keep you from sullying my mother's legacy. Or hurting any other Pokémon on this island." I felt his aura pressure grow,and start to even suffocate me. I quickly ran over to Marie. "So. You side with her? And Marie I hoped it wouldn't come to this." He sent out three Pokémon all of them ice types. A large Baxcalibur with what appeared to be evolutionary traits of large ice blades over its claws,an abomasnow with a massive metal brace on its left arm with a shard of abomasite in it,and a cryogonal the size of a jet turbine. His aura spread through all three of them. "There is a reason I am the chief of this island. It is because no one is foolish enough to try and fight me,due to my distinct ability with aura. Now. Let us begin!" The baxcalibur rushed at Borea. In which her claws began to glow an icy color. "Borea! Elemental rush!" She pushed the large dragon back into the abomasnow that was trying to go for the Salamence. The old man had a grin on his face. "I see I'll have to try harder." The top of his staff started to glow. "Let the seeds of the Yggdrasil bloom and flourish. MEGA EVOLVE." His abomasnow emerged from bright light having now mega evolved. "Kowtow,Rush at that Ursaring again. Do not hesitate to use lethal force." At that point I sent out Jetstream. "Alright buddy let's see what we can do!" I engaged my equipment that I had deactivated and Marie looked at me all giddy. "Don't focus on me keep your partner safe have him battle." "You've got it Callan." At that point I saw a spark of blue energy behind her eyes. "Osiris! Use Outrage!!" The massive Salamence rushed at the abomasnow holding it under its claws,and swung its tail at the cryogonal back towards the village elder. He stopped the cryogonal with his bare hand,and proceeded to activate these odd shoes he was wearing that made hard light constructions resembling a cryogonal under his feet. And swung his staff around him. "COME AT ME MASKED HUNTER!!" His cryogonal flew upwards with its master. "Jetstream let's get up there. Kid make sure my bear doesn't get hurt!"  She nodded as she sent out Naranja to help Borea with the Baxcalibur.

I landed on the platform he had made. His grin now letting off the same kind of cold the ice types he controlled had mastered. "Tell me. Have you heard the legend of the great crater of the Unova region? It is the coldest area of the region. Many say it was the den of the legendary dragon known as Kyurem. My father once long ago worked under a madman that had managed to tame the beast. Only for that man's plan to ultimately fail. The beast being set free. My father escaping before he could be apprehended by the authorities." The old man rushed at me with his staff I blocked his swing with mine and split mine back into its baton form. "My father ultimately left the Unova region and fled here to Ahnma. He made a new identity where he met my mother. I didn't learn til much later of his criminal background, and not until I was chief."  He attempted to sweep my leg but I activated my Talons to sink into the platform. He noticed this and proceeded to focus his aura through his staff and it turned into a massive club,and proceeded to swing at my leg. I turned off my talons and jumped on top of the club as he swung it. "Lemme guess. Your refering to Zinzolin of the Seven Sages." At that point his aura flared and proceeded to stun me. Suddenly I heard Jetstream yell at me. As the cryogonal had him on the ropes similarly to me. He pointed his club at me. "Now do you surrender." The kid looked up at me her Pokémon managing to take out Baxcalibur and Abomasnow with the assistance of Borea. I kicked him backward using his club as a fulcrum. He stopped himself from sliding off the platform. "Bold of you to assume you've beaten me. JETSTREAM SONIC HOWL. NOW!!" We both just let out a deafening howl. The old man just stood there not moving. "Alright I surrender. You've taken me down." The platform fell into the ground and he than disengaged it. At that point the rangers rolled up. "This man has been manipulating his people and made a deal with poachers. Take him away." The kid put on a mask she had on her belt and proceeded to follow up with. "And by no means let anyone build on that mountain. He was attempting to expand his empire to there to give the poachers a place to safely stay away from the people of the village,and away from your sight." They took the old man,and his Pokémon back to the village. While me and Marie just stood there. "So kid. Are you interested in joining me out there? There's a lot of bad people out in the region. Especially with this team fallen crew out and about." She took off her mask and looked at me. "Of course I do. But by chance can I get that same kind of badass tech that you have?" "But more themed towards your partner correct?" She nodded. "For now you can have this." I pulled out one of the prototype masks I had on me. It adapted to her partner Salamence. "Thank you Callan. Now we should probably get out of here soon right." At that point magnolia ringed both of us. "MASK! About time you answered me..... hold on. Who's the newbie? Is she that rider I sent you after? Did you manage to get her to travel with you?" "Calm down magnolia. Yes I managed to get her to travel with me. But what'd you call about?" She calmed herself down. "First. Does she have any ideas on a code name for herself?,and Second your next lead. I'd hate to steer you towards them again. But team fallen has been seen around the oldest library in the region. The gym leader of course won't let them in. But if their after something at the library we have to help her out." Marie responded rather quickly. "Call me Talon." Magnolia chuckled a little. "Alright. You guys should go ahead and make your way to Auros City." "Hey Lara. If possible can you send Jace some tech for Talon? Since I know Auros is the next gym from Drift city. Ill send you the specs for it momentarily." "Ill try my best to get it to him as soon as I can. Good luck and be safe out there you two." We got on our partners and set out from Orchard island making our way to the coast of the mainland closest to Auros City.
