Chapter 12 The Foreword

Jace's P.O.V.
I woke up in the tent to see Dante laying outside. The light of his bulb was blinding. I'm surprised it hadn't woken anyone else up. I checked the time on my Nav,and it said it was only 6:30.

I walked out to see why Dante was standing at attention outside of my tent,all I saw was a bunch of bright ghostly looking lights. I grabbed Contro,and Pixel's Pokéballs from my belt,and sent the two of them out. Suddenly I heard footsteps I turned around and saw,the tents were gone. I turned back towards my Pokémon and they had disappeared all of their accessories laying where they were standing. "What,what's going on!?" A man with a Flygon walked forward from the darkness and grinned. "TIME TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PEST!" His Flygon shot fire at me.

I was shaken awake. By Pixel and Dante they stared at me with concern. "I,I'm fine guys." I looked at my nav,and realized it was 9:30 AM. I looked over towards the flap of the tent to see Lilliana standing there looking at me with worry. After I got dressed I walked out and sat down to eat. "You never slept in late Jace,not even back home." Sonja was the most concerned since we'd known eachother since we were younger. "Why were you freaking out in your sleep?" I was shaken,the images flooded my brain and I couldn't do anything but panic. "It,it was honestly nothing. I'm ready to move on with today,we'll finally be getting to Drift city. Where we can hopefully find the masked hunter again." We reached the beach nearby,to see a dock but instead of boats,there were Togekiss with saddles sitting on top of the 'boat' house. We walked over to the House where I stood in front. The man behind the counter looked like a real surfer bro,but his hair,was smoothed back,and put into a pony tail,he was wearing a necklace that appeared to have about five corsola branches on it. "Hello there welcome to the Skyloft Kiosk,my name is Marcus. Before you pull out your wallet my Togekiss will take you across the sea free of charge. They love the ocean so much they wouldn't let me charge even if I wanted to." The four Togekiss floated down from the top of the boat house. I reached my hand out and patted the one with a blue harness on the head. "Oh that's Gabriel,he's excitable,and is the fastest flyer,he needs someone with a steady hand to guide him,can you do that?" I nodded. He gave each of us a whistle with a different colored stripe on it. Mine had a blue stripe on it that matched Gabe's harness,Sonja's had a purple one,Lilliana's had a green one,and Solara's had a golden one. "Those whistles are crafted from coral and a special kind of Quartz from the Maira mountain range. With these you can call them anywhere in the region. Now don't worry I have spares. So feel free to call them anytime. Except from at night and on holidays." We got on after we returned everyone to their Pokéballs. "Alright guys,let's go!" Gabe shot off from the pier at a breakneck speed,the others were at most like 30 yards behind us. I grabbed onto his harness. "Gabe!" He looked at me. "Let's slow it down some buddy." He grinned and shot off even faster once the others got within 20 feet. "So this is how your gonna play it huh? Alright than. LETS GO!!" I grabbed onto the grips on the harness and pressed myself down on his back. "Show me what you've got Gabe!" He started spinning and doing all sorts of flashy tricks. He suddenly shot upward and I could tell what he was about to do. He looked back at me in what I could only assume was a stare of 'hold on to your butt.' "Let's do it Gabe!" He folded in his wings and gravity started its job. We plunged downward at a speed that was at least 200 mph he pulled away from the drop when we were about to make contact with the water and that momentum kept going. But we noticed something the others were actually closing in on us again,and Gabe had worn himself out. On my left and right Sonja and Lilliana were looking at me like I'd lost my mind. "What,I used to do the same thing to Jaeger,when he was a Gligar he was extra energetic,and whenever he needed to calm down I would have him fly around and get it outta his system. You learn a thing or two whenever your mom is a Pokémon breeder."

We reached the shore within the hour. We told them to fly back to the shore,which Gabe took off like a rocket outta orbit again. "Welp he certainly caught that rebound super quickly." Drift city wasn't huge,but it was bigger than home. We started asking around if there had been any sightings of the masked hunter,but we didn't hear anything until we started asking around the bar. I got in because it was full of Rangers,and they recognized me as the son of their former chief. They even let the others follow me in. "There hasn't been any sightings of the masked hunter but there was this one guy. He would walk around the city wearing a large dark blue hoodie,but he would also wear a pair of shades,he looked shady but he seemed familiar. I couldn't quite pin it down but,his body shape was similar to one of us Rangers. He could've been a retiree but it's unlikely he was staying in The Tyraglyph caves at the southern edge of town." We walked outta the bar with new information in tow. "Alright Guys,let's head to the caves." We walked to the southern part of town only to find a large barricade. Judging by the flag above the barricade we knew it was team Fallen.

"So,you've seen it to now,huh kid?" A guy wearing a sports jacket,as well as had his hands wrapped up,he appeared to be wearing a Z-ring on a necklace. "The names Gene,I'm the gym leader of this city,and I'd heard that these guys recently set up over here. But,I didn't think it was this bad." He reached for a timer ball from his belt. "You guys might wanna step back some. Let's go for it,Hijinx!" He sent out a weird looking salandit,it's claws seemed to be covered in a thin layer of steel,and the marking on its back looked noticeably different and looked more like lightning. It had a small pair of wings where the weird ribbon looking things on its back would be. Also instead of being it's usual black and grey colors it was purple and yellow. I pulled out my Pokédex. "New Chimera discovered. Salandit the walking Powerplant Chimera. This Pokémon happens when a salandit bred with a Toxtricity,and a salazzle bred with a Duraludon mate. This Pokémon is a Dragon Electric type,and is incredibly powerful for its small stature. They will more often than not shoot off arcs of electricity to vent energy. It can also deploy small metal spikes to direct the electricity's arc." I looked back at the Pokémon and it seemed to be expelling smoke from its tail. "Ready Hijinx?" The salandit looked back at her trainer and nodded. The Z-ring on his necklace started to glow red. "The embers fall,and scorch the earth we stand upon,with the power of a raging inferno! INFERNO,OVERDRIVE!!!" A large fireball shot out of Hijinx's mouth and launched at the barricade melting a massive hole in the steel wall. "Well after you kid." We walked through the breach and saw a large group of them standing at the entrance to the cave,standing guard. Somehow they didn't notice the massive fireball. But when they saw us,they all rushed over to us. We were completely surrounded I sent out Dante,Contro,and Tori. I head Solara send out her partners. And Lilliana sent out Windsheer,and Laila. Suddenly a loud ringing sound started to emit from the caves,making all of our Pokémon stand down. A guy with short blonde hair,and deep brown eyes. wearing a black vest and T-shirt with torn up dark blue jeans walked towards us through the crowd,he had a pangoro walking beside him. "So,your the ones that my boss warned me about,and would you look at that the Gym Leader that took my place. Isn't it funny how things work out like that?" Gene stood in front of me. "Jacob!? What the heck are you doing here,with these ruffians and plunderers!?" Jacob grinned. "I'm here to take back my town. While doing anything I can to do so." Suddenly we heard the sound of the wall being broken through again. "What no-" We saw none other than Vain. Tank was walking beside him but a large Shiny Aggron was standing by his side still chewing on a large piece of steel that it had torn from the wall. "So the Traitor has arrived huh?" Without Vain even saying anything his Aggron rushed into the crowd knocking down everyone and everything that was in its path. Vain soon rushed in with Tank riding in his pocket,he started swinging his forge hammer like a madman. You could hear Tank Roaring in unison with the war cries of his trainer and larger Aggron. "Everyone Retreat,activate shadow step protocol!" They all disappeared in a wisp of purple smoke the ringing stopped and all of our Pokémon were standing back up. I walked over to Vain. "So,what the heck was that?" He looked down at me and messed with my hair. "I ditched them,I got sick of the boss whenever he decided to let your little friend Dax into our group." Me and the others were stunned. "So Dax said Yes?" He nodded. "The boss gave him an offer he couldn't refuse. So he took it. Besides I didn't think of where else to go other than with you kids,besides someone has to keep up maintenance on that prosthetic of yours." With that Vain joined our little band of heroes. Gene pointed us to the towns inn and we got settled after some training,tomorrow would be the day I got my second gym badge.
