Alex
Flying at high speeds through the labyrinth of roads and corridors of Mauvile wouldn't have been my first choice of escape tactic. And yet here we are, hurtling at unsafe speeds through tight passageways. It's freaking Holehills all over again, plus panicked pedestrians trying to find safety.
Fuji was freaking out, understandably. My attempts to calm her down have been mildly successful. But what really helped was losing the Rocket thugs and taking down the Flygon. Now all that remains is an admittedly livid Yanmega.
"All I need is one clean shot and we should be in the clear." Thunder says as we swerve clear of a storefront sign. Ahead I spot a narrow footpath. It seems tight enough that it could force the bug type straight into Thunder's crosshairs.
"There!" I point the path out to Mewtwo. "Force them through there!" Without a word they comply. Sure enough the Yanmega stays hot on our tail, closing the distance slowly. "Alright Thunder, it's all you!" A second later the flash of a thunderbolt illuminates the walls around us. The strike hits dead center on the Yanmega's face. As the bolt tapers out our now unconscious enemy tumbles to the ground.
"That got em!" Thunder woops. "Now let's ge-"
"Look out!" Fuji yells, pointing ahead. Sure enough straight ahead is one of the airborne Rocket goons. Guess we didn't shake them after all.
Mewtwo flips around and heads back the way we came. The bang of a gunshot rings out followed by a cry of pain from Thunder. My heart leaps out of my chest in panic.
"Thunder!?" I scream. Thankfully he looks to be alive. The shot was a glancing one, cutting a gash in his left cheek.
"Still alive. But I think that hit ruptured my electric sac. If I try and attack now I might end up electrocuting myself." Crap... That is very bad. Without a method of fighting back our enemies will be quick to take us down.
Suddenly Mewtwo veers sharply down a side path to avoid another Rocket goon and then again as another shows up. "It's like they know where we are. They're planning something." I muse.
My theory is proven correct after the forth and final goon forces us down a dead end road. They've trapped us.
"If anyone has any ideas now would be the time to say so." Mewtwo says. I scan the road for something, anything, that could save us. My eyes settle on a small window on the far end of the road in front of a dining area. From the looks of it, it should lead directly outside. But it's narrow. All four of us won't fit. But... maybe three of us could just barely get through...
I glance at the pokeball on my belt. It's already tagged Thunder but It can hold a different pokemon for about a second before spitting them back out. If what I have planned works, a second is all I need.
"I have one. Aim for that window."
"It is too small fo-"
"I know, just trust me here."
"...very well."
"Wait, what're we doing?" Fuji stutters. "Are we seriously going to... This is crazy!"
"Better than getting shot full of holes. I have a plan, don't worry." The window draws ever closer as we speed towards it. I take hold of the pokeball and try and steady my nerves. Only one shot at this. I need to wait until the last second.
I wait until we're about five feet away before springing into action. I press the ball against Mewtwo's side and they're quickly taken in, leaving the three of us to sail right through the window.
What comes next is a blur of activity. The shattering of a window, the feeling of weightlessness, the sight of the world around me tumbling. For a moment I fear that I've doomed us. But then the ball opens. A phantom force steadies us and places us back on Mewtwo's back. I check behind us. our pursuers haven't followed us through. Or if they are they're being more cautious about it. The plan worked.
"Is it always like this with you guys?!" Fuji asks, breathless.
"That depends on the jobs we're on."
"Jobs?"
"Long, long story. I'll tell you once we're somewhere safe. Mewtwo head for that forest. that should give us the cover we need."
"I concur." They respond, gliding down below the treeline and weaving their way through the trunks and branches.

"You realize that this is a pretty unbelievable story, right?" Fuji says as she takes a bite out of an oran berry. The window jump had left us all covered in scrapes and cuts and while I hadn't brought any potion, we did find an oran bush which would be more than enough to heal the minor wounds. Thunder's bullet gash needed more attention, however. I tore off a part of my shirt and soaked it in oran juice which he is now holding up to his cheek.
"I am well aware. I would think the same in your place. But it's the truth, whether you believe it or not." I turn to Thunder. "How're you holding up."
"Better. For once I'm glad it's shedding season. Means I won't be stuck with bloodstained fur for several weeks."
"I might be able to help you with brushing it out this time, but let's worry about that later." I turn to Fuji. "Unfortunately we still don't know where the Mew are kept or what Mewtwo is even for."
"You're really going to keep going? You're either brave or stupid."
"It's not wise, I get that. But it's necessary. I'm not about to let innocent Pokemon be hurt by these thugs. I'm in a position where I can do something, so I will."
Fuji ponders my words for a moment. "Honestly... I mock you, but you're the only person I know who's standing up to them right now. Everyone else is too afraid. Even some of the police." She sighs. "Don't make me regret this."
She pulls something out of her pocket. "Yosuke gave me this flash drive the last time I saw him. He said if anything were to happen to him to look at this."
"Have you looked at it yet?"
"I haven't."
"Why not?"
She glances away. "...Looking back I guess I thought he'd come back somehow. No matter. It may contain things useful for you seeing as he was involved in this. Just promise me you're going to make Team Rocket pay for what they've done."
"That's our hope." I look at Thunder and Mewtwo. "You two ready to go again?"
"Yeah, I think the wound is as healed as I can get it right now." Thunder says.
"I am ready and able." Mewtwo says.
"Let's head back then. I'm very interested in what this thing holds."
