Mewtwo
Alex's plan seemed to have been working. The guards had been disarmed and restrained. Josh and Jackson had fled the building and were likely headed to the car where Ninetales and Growlithe would be able to protect them before coming to aid the main group.
But as with most plans, something unforeseen turns the tides. Mewtwo was struck by something. Something large and fast. Something that managed to harm them. They barely had a chance to register what had happened before it struck again, slamming their head into the concrete floor. Only after the unknown being lifted them by their throat did Mewtwo get the chance to identify the assailant.
Another Mewtwo; Beta they believe the woman referred to them as. One with a green tail instead of violet. Wearing a stone cold expression as if a machine. They might have mistook it for one had they not sensed the doppelganger's mental presence.
It doesn't take long for Mewtwo to understand. This is what Rocket had intended to create. It was them perfected into a living weapon. Everything they have been fighting so hard to overcome. And something that cannot be allowed victory.
Ninetales and Growlithe burst through the door, providing a momentary distraction for Beta as they take a split second to assess the threat of the newcomers. A split second is all Mewtwo needs. Mewtwo lets loose a psychic shockwave, sending Beta reeling. They press the advantage and use psycho cutter and prepare to follow up with confusion. The first hit connects be the second is interrupted as Beta charges headlong into them, sending them both hurtling through the wall and into an adjacent warehouse.
As they both crash back into the ground Mewtwo makes some distance between them. They can't remember ever facing an opponent that could match them blow for blow like this. For once their failure is a very real outcome. But given the circumstances they can't back down now. As Beta lunges at them once more, they brace themselves for what will undoubtably be a grueling fight.
Alex
Growlithe and Ninetales' intervention was timely. The both of them billow out massive clouds of flame to force their opponents back while Mewtwo and the new clone trade blows. Siana watches the display, distracted. I seize the moment and lunge, knocking her onto the floor. But in one quick motion she pulls a switchblade from her belt and manages to make a shallow cut across my wrist. I back off, giving her a chance to get back up. She's barely back on her feet before lunging at me again. I'm forced to keep backpedaling to keep from being cut to ribbons.
I'm forced further and further back until my back is to a wall, knocking over a stack of metal pipes in the process. Thinking quickly I duck under one of her thrusts, grab a pipe and swing. The pipe makes contact with her hip, staggering her as my new weapon vibrates with a low drone from the hit.
With a moment to breathe I take stock of the fight. Several of the Rocket goons have deployed their own pokemon into the fray. Thunder in particular is pinned down by an aggressive Persian. Once more we are outnumbered. And judging from the Mewtwo-sized hole in the wall our ace in the hole is dealing with their own problems. As for me a Breloom has joined on Siana's side, charging forwards with Mach Punch. I manage to barely block the strike with my pipe, only to watch as the hit breaks it in two.
Once more I am on the backfoot, desperately trying to keep away from my enemy's devastating blows. If something doesn't change soon, I could be in deep trouble.
Thunder
Thunder is in a difficult place. Facing off with a pokemon as ruthless as a Persian while Alex and Mewtwo are trapped within their own battles. And while Thunder is fast and nimble, so too is his adversary. Multiple times the Persian's jaws have come perilously close to snapping him up. Add to that their relentless pace and Thunder barely has any openings to retaliate. If he doesn't get help soon, he's not confident he'll survive.
A sudden blast of fire into the side of the feline announces the presence of Growlithe. Relief surges through Thunder's body. They might actually win this fight.
"Sorry I'm late." Growlithe says.
"Late? You're just in time. Alex needs help and I need this guy to back off."
"Right. How do you want to do this?"
"Thinking of one of Alex's favorite tactics, attacking from two sides. I'll keep their attention, you get around behind them."
"I like it. Let's do it."
The Persian lunges forward, teeth bared to rip into the both of them. Thunder manages to get a quick shot off that strikes the back of their mouth, causing them to recoil.
"Keep trying to eat me and there's more where that came from." Thunder taunts.
"You presumptuous little whelp!" Persian growls before lashing out with claws, landing a strike on Thunder. "You don't get to do that to me! I'm going to-" His threats are cut short by a spinning wheel of fire striking him from behind.
"Perhaps if you focused on the fight and not your entitlement you'd have noticed me." Growlithe chuckles.
"Entitlement!?" Persian roars. "That's it! The both of you are going to die here!" With another roar Persian uses Pay Day. Golden coins materialize around him and are immediately flung at Thunder and Growlithe. Thunder reacts with iron tail to try and deflect them, managing to keep about half from hitting him. Growlithe meanwhile powers through and closes the distance, sinking his teeth into Persian's flank with fire fang. The feline's concentration is broken and he tries to shake the attacker off, leaving him open for attack.
Thunder takes the opportunity and fires an electro ball at him. The final hit proves too much for Persian and they pass out. Thunder sighs in relief.
"Right. Now to help Alex." Thunder rushes ahead, towards Alex, only to find a half-dozen new pokemon have entered the fray. Worse still is Alex is faced with a Breloom. He's outmatched and there are several other pokemon between him and his friend.
"Thunder!" Growlithe yelps. "Problem! Help!" Thunder turns to find Growlithe faced down with a Swampert. And not just him. Ninetales is dealing with a Liepard that's keeping her cornered. And as if to add insult to injury, Thunder finds himself tackled suddenly by a Sandslash, who quickly readies to slit his throat.
A split second before the claws dig into his neck a loud sound echoes out from the roof. High pitched, melodic, almost innocent sounding, but also piercing. Many of their enemies recoil, including the Sandslash, clutching their ears in pain. It takes a minute for Thunder to register what is happening. That was Disarming Voice. He spots the source of the sound swinging from the support beams with a white rope. Wait... not rope, feelers. Ribbon feelers. It's Sylveon!
With deftness and elegance she swings from the support beams on the ceiling to the top of the massive shelves. And again down to the ground in front of Thunder.
"Sy-" Thunder starts.
"Please don't. I may hate Josh but I can't just let you all die here. I'm here to settle my conscience. Nothing more." She says curtly.
Thunder nods. "Either way, I'm glad you're here. Thank you Sylveon."
"Yeah... Now hurry. We have a battle to win."
