I grabbed a familiar tool, ignoring the screams of the man. I couldn't even focus on his pleas for mercy knowing that one of us could see Meadow tonight.

After seeing that Meadow's family was moving we of course had to relocate where she was. We always have been looking over her from afar, since her parents threatened to kill their daughter if we didn't stay away, we haven't talked to her since the accident.

Her mother came over a couple days ago and yet again threatened us. It would've been so easy to just blow her head off, but we didn't want our confused little Meadow to be upset. She demanded that we 'stay away from her family' and then said she was going to call the police about the man Meadow saw and report him missing if we didn't.

What she doesn't know is that he was a runaway prisoner, he was going to die sooner or later.

I didn't mean for her to see the very man I have chained in the basement that we've built specifically for torture.

Turning around with a grin as I see my friends circling around the prey, holding the nail gun everyone knows what this means.

"No hesitation no remorse, proves loyalty and faithfulness... if you can't handle it you'll end up like him." I gestured the gun to the man.

This cult, this secret society, consumes you, no matter how close I am with these friends, at the end of the day, we can't afford any weakness.

The air in the room shifted, filling with tension so thick you could cut it with a knife as I brought the nail gun to his head, pressing it firmly on his temple.

"Stop fucking moving!" I lashed out and grabbed his jaw harshly.

As I burned my gaze into his glossy eyes I whispered the ritual chant. "signasti fatum tuum, videbis luciferum in oculis, et trahet te cum eo in acidum, quod ardebat." you have sealed your fate, you will look Lucifer in the eyes, and he will drag you along with him into the acid he burned in.

Click...

The gag muffled his screams of agony, it eggs on my friends to do the same. One, by one nails, shot into his forehead, and drips of blood poured into the bowl on the floor from his arm.

Since I'm the one leading the ritual today, I get to do the immortalizing tonight. We all lead the cult and see each other as gods, though, Meadow is a goddess, the ultimate.

Past our huge egos, we will always, with no hesitation, obey and worship her, I'd kill myself if she even had the thought of wanting me to be dead.

Blood filled the man's once-white eyes as he stared forward, that's what you get for escaping.

Leaning down to grab the bucket of blood as the gun hit the floor, I covered my hand in it. A sinful man's blood keeps us alive and young, this man was used as a sacrifice to keep our immortality.

"Line up." I sighed, gesturing for them to take their place.

I was just ready to take a nap, the blunt I smoked earlier didn't help relax me. The thought that Meadow was closer to being ours than ever before is euphoric and too overwhelming.

They all looked giddy about it too, well except Percy, he's always been a grump.

One by one I smeared the blood onto their outstretched palm as I went down the line. The men breathed deeply, feeling the burn go through their veins.

When doing this ritual, benefits us but also causes immense pain, almost like dying all over again.

To be immortal is to die first, and the way they immortalize you is extremely painful, the blood of your parents being injected into your veins doesn't only cause physical pain, but also mental pain.

As the blood seeps into the cult imprint, it burns your whole body, like it's been drowned in acid.

Sulfuric acid.

And finally, I dump the bucket over my head and feel as my body lights on fire. My fists clench and I can almost smell the ash from the fire that burns my skin.

But nothing, not anything in the whole world has ever felt as good as this.
