Heavy. That's what breathing felt like, currently anyway. Old memories dug up from the long forgotten past of mine. Maybe having a slight panic attack inside of a coffin (a place with limited air) was not a good idea.

"I better hurry up and find that uniform before someone spots me...Urgggh... This lid weighs a ton! Try this on for size! Mya-ha!" An obnoxious voice exclaimed.

Smoke filled my lungs as the lid to the coffin cracked open. I quickly took a deep breath and jumped out, pushing whatever what was in my way out of it. "Myah! What?! You ain't supposed to be awake!" The voice exclaimed, rather surprised. I coughed viciously, regaining air into my lungs and smoke out of it. "Fucking...bitch." I cursed in between coughs, turning back to find...

A talking cat? It had grey fur, wide cerulean eyes and was standing on its hind legs. What kind of circus did I walk into? "Oh-ho! You got a lotta nerve ignoring me, human! The name's Grim. Believe me, you won't forget it! Now gimme your uniform, and be quick about it!" He demanded, putting his paws on his hips. "Uniform?" I looked down to find myself in some sort of robe. Weird.

I checked underneath my robe. I wore what I typically wore, not surprisingly. "'Cause if you don't...you're gonna regret it!" Grim added, crossing his paws. "Fuck that." I stated simply, running off from the cat.

"Where am I?" I muttered to myself. The room was dark but thanks to some green lamps I could make out some bookshelves. It was probably a library, noting some of the scattered books on little nightstands next to chairs.

"Foolish human! Did you really think you could slip away from ME? Now, unless you wanna get burned to a crisp, take off that—Me-YEOW! That hurt! What gives?" I turned around to find Grim being held hostage by a pink rope.

"Consider it tough love. Ah, I've found you at last. Splendid. I trust you're one of this year's new students? My, were you ever eager to make your debut. And bringing a poorly trained familiar with you? That is a clear violation of the school's rules." I looked at the man behind the rope. It was a formal gentleman with a black masquerade mask, mimicking a crow. Glowing golden yellow orbs reflected from inside the mask.

Okay maybe if I pretend I know what I'm doing everything will be okay. I bowed in front of the man. "I apologize. He is my sister's familiar, she sent him to look after me, but I suppose she forgot how rebellious he can be with strangers..." The man stopped and wiped a tear from his eye (somehow through the mask) before continuing. "Such a polite young man!" He sniffled.

"As if I'd serve some lowly human! Now lemme go!" Grim squirmed from underneath the man's rope. I remained silent, simply observing the man. "Yes, yes. Rebellious familiars always say that. Do be quiet for a bit, won't you?" He put his gloved hand over Grim's mouth. "Mmmrph!"
