20- The Origin of Blind Obedience 1

"Kanada Taichi from Morioka in June. Shimada Osamu from Yokohama in August. Yamato Hiroshi from Nagoya in September. These three died in similar circumstances" Nitta says as she drives the four Tokyo first year students to a school for a mission, "they were stabbed to death by a cursed spirit at the entrances to their apartments, and all of them had filed the same complaint with the property managers, several weeks before dying. They claimed their auto-locking doors were left wide open. None of the other residents have any ideas of what could've happened".

"None of the dates or locations match though" Megumi says as he sits in the back of the car with Yuji and Nobara either side of him as they both look at the tablet he holds whilst Kuina sits in the front with the copy of the notes recorded from the windows, "could the same cursed spirit have killed them all?".

"Hey, could the cursed spirit be responsible for the doors?" Yuji asks as he looks at Nitta, "do sensors like those pick up cursed spirits? They don't show up on cameras and stuff, right?".

"Apparently the cursed spirits made the door operators go crazy, not the sensors" Nitta says as she focuses on the road.

"Oh, operators" Yuji says as he remembers that there are fancier things then buffet breakfast.

"And as for whether or not the same cursed spirit was behind this, well, we couldn't be certain just from the residuals" Nitta says as she looks back at the three of them, "after all, a lot of time had already passed. So we tried to track down any connections between the three. We discovered that all three attended the same middle school for two years".

"Meaning all three received the same curse, and it activated after time had passed?" Kuina says from the front of the car.

"Precisely, that's highly likely" Nitta says as she looks over at Kuina, "so we're going to that middle school now to question someone who knew all three of the victims, and I want you four to see what you can find as sorcerers".

"Way to go, Kuina!" Yuji says as he links his arms around Kuina's chair and hugs her.

"Heh. What did you expect?" Kuina says as she shows off a little bit.

The five of them arrive at the home of the acquaintance, only to see that there's a funeral going on.

"Is this the home of that acquaintance?" Nobara asks as they all look over.

"Yes, it is" Nitta says in shock.

The five of them get back into the car as they set off to the high school.

"Well this sucks" Kuina comments, "he died the same way the other three did. He lived with his family, so there was no auto-locking door, but he was killed in front of the entrance. Previously, upon returning home alone, he reported 'the door was unlocked but it wouldn't open' to his other family members".

"I asked his parents but they didn't know what relationship he had with the other three" Nitta says.

The five of them arrive at the school, "so we just lost our only lead" Nobara says as they walk onto the school grounds.

"Don't worry!" Yuji says as he tries to cheer everyone up, "there has to be something in this middle school".

"I sure hope so" Nitta says, beaten down by everything that's happened within the space of an hour, "for now, I've secured an appointment with a teacher so I'm counting on you".

"Roger" Yuji says with a nod.

"There's some obvious punks!" Nobara says as she runs over to two male students smoking, "let's beat them up and set them straight".
