The next morning Elliot woke up hung over, confused, and shirtless. Wait, shirtless? What happened? He looked around the room. Nothing was out of the ordinary.
There was a knock on the door. Shane had come with something important: Elliot's shirt. "I took this home and washed it for you." Looking down at his shirt, Elliot saw all that Shane had done for him. It was neatly folded and clean. Suddenly, Elliot felt like he was going to throw up. He didn't have time to walk all the way to the bathroom, so he just did it in a nearby trash can. He felt a slight tug on his hair. It didn't hurt, but it was being pulled hard enough to feel it. He turned around to see that it was Shane holding his hair back.
"You don't drink enough to deal with this often. So you don't understand how annoying something like this can be." Elliot looked at Shane like he said a bad word in front of a child. "That being said, this is bad even for my standards." Then, something came over Elliot. All he could say was "Sorry if I taste like puke." And he kissed him. Somewhere in between their lips, their tongues met. And they stayed like that for a while. Shane pulled away. What was he doing? What would people think about this? He'd made out with another man. More importantly, he should've thought of Jas before doing this. What would happen? She would be so embarrassed when she talked about how he and Elliot had kissed. All the other kids would laugh when she said "One time, Uncle Shane kissed Mr. Elliot." Well, if she found out. That was one thing to keep out of his journal. But, someone had to know. And if he couldn't tell a person, why couldn't he simply put it in writing?
While Shane was contemplating what he had just done, Elliot looked into the abyss. Why had he been so stupid? Kissing Shane when they hadn't even gone on an actual date yet. Yet. Why was the word yet even included in that thought? Why would they possibly go on a real date? This was Pelican Town for Christ's sake!
