Andre

Are we meeting or what?

I finally got to talk to the girl that I've been seeing at the school every day. Brandi is her name. She's pretty cool. I might like her. She gave me her number. I think I'll give her a call and see what she's up to.

"Hello?" Brandi whispered on her end of the phone.

"Hello, is this Brandi?"

She clears her throat. "Yes."

"Hey, it's Andre. I met you last night at Layla's party."

"Yes. I remember. What's up?"

"I wanted to check on you. I know it was kinda late and you'd had a drink."

"Thanks for being concerned. I'm fine."

"Good." I pause. I hate this dating thing. That's why I usually just fuck. "Um, are you doing anything later?"

"I don't have any plans."

"Would you like to go somewhere tomorrow?"

"I would but I don't think I'll be able to go."

Here we go. She was feeling me last night. I know it. What's the issue now? Females play way too many games. "Why? You gotta boyfriend or somethin?"

"No. My parents are kinda strict. So, I don't go out a lot."

"Oh. That's messed up. You sure there isn't any way you can get away from the house for a couple of hours." C'mon, girl. You know you wanna hang with me. "Like around five o'clock. I could come pick you up," I said.

"No!" she shouted. "I mean, why don't we meet somewhere?"

I look at the phone. "Okay, where do you want to meet?"

"We can meet at That's A Burger."

"Why don't we go to the one closest to the beach?"

The beach is at least a twenty-seven minute drive. Is this chick playing a game? "Why do you want to go that far?"

"It's not that far. And we can go for a walk on the beach afterward," she said.

I usually don't give in to these types of requests. If a chick wants too much right away, I typically let them go. I don't know if I'm in a giving mood or what but I'm willing to let Brandi have her way. For now. "Alright. When do you want to meet?"

"Umm. Can you hold on for a second? I need to make a quick call and I'll be right back."

I frown. What the...? "I could call you back later."

"Oh, no. It'll only take a minute."

"Uh, okay."

I heard a click. I'm starting to think this girl is going to be more trouble than she's worth. It isn't that hard to plan a date. She said her parents were strict. Maybe she couldn't date. This is a lot of trouble to go through for some girl I don't even know. I thought this would be easier.

I suddenly heard another click.

"Hello? Hello?" She sounded a little panicked.

"Brandi?"

I could hear her exhale on my end of the line. "Yes. I'm sorry for the long hold. I'm glad you're still there."

"Yeah, I'm here. So, what's up? Are we meeting or what?"

"Sure. How does three o'clock sound?"

"That works for me."

We finally say our good-byes and hang up. I must admit. I'm intrigued. Brandi seems a little different than what I'm used to. I look forward to seeing more of her and figuring out what she's all about.
