Three months later—

"YOU LOOK SO HANDSOME, my love," I gushed as I gently ran the soft rubber brush over Connor's hair, giving him a side part.

He chuckled, lips spread apart on his dimpled cheeks, as his blue eyes shone in between glancing at the plushy toy in his hands and then at me.

Mary floated by and handed me Connor's jacket, a small black faux leather jacket to wear over his t-shirt. He smiled some more as he reached out his arms, eagerly waiting to wear it. He had gotten very fond of jackets over t-shirts, so much so that I would always find him running towards the section of his wardrobe, eager to pull out a jacket or a coat to wear on top. In the profession I was in, with my modelling and designing, Connor's sense for dressing up made my heart soar.

"Alright, alright," I laughed as his chubby right hand touched the silver zipper and shook it. "I'll zip it up in just a moment."

He grinned at me once his jacket was half zipped up, looking a little biker boy in his tiny silver Versace Odissea sneakers.

His birthday was in just a week. He will turn two, and it was surreal knowing that his life will change from today. Connor didn't know that, I kept telling him, but he's just a kid, he won't truly realize until after change comes and takes him by the hand.

He was going to meet his dad today. His dad, a rapper turned popstar, the infamous Machine Gun Kelly. A surge of pride throbbed in my chest.

The past three months had been hectic. I had attended court trials twice every week in between my nights at the House of Z. Some days, I came back and couldn't sleep, resulting in extended hours sitting in front of the makeup stylist before the runways. Zac Posen didn't complain as long as I was punctual and did the runway looking my best. But my life at home had been picked apart. I had little to no time to spend with Connor, so I made up for it in my late nights, watching him sleep just to know that he was there, just to feel that he was close.

Pressing charges on ASAP Rocky had resulted in a two months' worth of court gatherings for his trial. His lawyer had been strong, but I had managed to make my case with my own lawyer. Having my appeal out on social media had gathered me support, and a multitude of ASAP's victims had come out. Five girls were brave enough to testify against him in court. The end result had been a hefty fine for the rapper and a jail time of eight months.

It wasn't much, and it was certainly not all that he deserved after witnessing his testifying victims sob uncontrollably while relating their stories on the witness stand. But justice was scarce, and the world had learned to live with it despite in the little dosage it was given. Women had learned to live with it.

While making court runs for that trial, I had to increase my visits because Colson's trial was also taking place.

Watching him in orange, with silver wrist cuffs holding him in position and two police guards at both his sides, was terrifying in ways I couldn't name. I was fearful for him, after so long of being fearful of him and his dangerous antics.

He hadn't expected me there, and he hadn't expected that I'd stand behind the witness stand and testify against his criminal confessions. It had been hard, not looking him in the eyes when I had felt his sky blue ones on me every moment in that courtroom.
