Angel's POV
Angel wakes up sprawled in a chair in the corner. He looks over to see Grey curled into a ball sound asleep. Angel stares at him for a few minutes before Grey starts to wake up. Grey yawns as his eyes connect with Angel. Angel simply smiles.
"You slept in that chair all night?"
"No, I moved here halfway through the night." Angel stands up and sits at the bottom of the bed.
"You could have slept up on the bed."
"It's okay, I like the floor."
"I'm going to pretend I believe you. Is it okay if I take a shower?"
"Definitely. I'll put some clothes in the bathroom for you. Take your time." He goes to his dresser and grabs one of his old football shirts and some sweats. He takes it to the bathroom and sets it on his sink. He grabs a towel and sets it on top. He comes out of the bathroom and sees Grey looking at him. "I'm going to make us some breakfast. Are you okay with eggs?" Grey nods and watches him leave.
When he makes it downstairs he sees his mom sitting at the island drinking some coffee, reading a magazine. He gives her a small hug as he passes her, making his way to the coffee machine.
She sets her magazine down, looking at him, "I hear we had an overnight guest."
Angel braces himself for the questions, quickly making his coffee and turning to his mom, "yeah, I hope that's okay."
"Why is he staying the night?"
"He was high and I wanted to make sure he was okay."
"You aren't going to be doing drugs right?"
"No mom. I promise."
"Then why are you hanging out with people who do?"
"It was his first time. I'm going to talk to him about it. I just wanted to make sure he was okay." He goes over to the fridge and grabs some eggs.
"Okay. Who is this boy? What's his name?"
"His name is Grey. He's a guy from my class I'm hanging out with."
"Is he the friend whose house you slept at?"
"Yeah."
"I see." She moves over back to the coffee machine to make another cup. Angel is cooking some eggs when he hears someone coming down the stairs. Both him and his mom look up to see Grey. Angel stares at him with an awestruck look. He can see out of the corner of his eye, his mom looking at him but he doesn't look away from Grey.
His mom whispers, "You look at him like your father looks at me."
He jerks to look at his mom and she is drinking her coffee with a smile on his lips. Angel stutters, absolutely unsure what to say. He doesn't like Grey like that. He's straight.
Grey takes a seat at the island, "Are you okay?"
Angel shakes his head and goes back to focusing on the eggs and not the boy in front of him, "Of course I'm okay." His mom takes a seat next to Grey and Angel is starting to regret having him come over.
"Hello Grey, I'm Angel's mom."
Grey looks at her and smiles, "Hi."
"It's so nice to meet Angel's friends. Even the special ones."
"Special ones?"
"Yep, special." She gives Grey a wink. Grey looks over at Angel and Angel is just as confused. Angel puts the eggs on a plate and hands it to Grey.
