AMAYA POV

WHEN I WRITE IN ITALICS IT MEANS THAT THE PERSON WHO'S POV IT IS IS THINKING THAT UNLESS I WRITE OTHERWISE.

"Not to worry," she said. "All you have to do is walk straight at the barrier between the platforms nine and ten. Don't stop and don't be scared you'll crash into it, that's very important. Best do it at a bit of a run if you're nervous. Go on, go now before Ron." "Er — okay," said Harry. She and Harry pushed his trolley around and stared at the barrier. It looked very solid. He started to walk toward it. People jostled her on their way to platforms nine and ten. Harry walked more quickly. She was going to walk right into that barrier and then he'd be in trouble — she broke into a heavy run — the barrier was coming nearer and nearer — she wouldn't be able to stop — she closed her eyes ready to cross or get hit ... she kept on running... she opened his eyes. A scarlet steam engine was waiting next to a platform packed with people. A sign overhead said Hogwarts' Express, eleven o'clock. Harry looked behind him and saw a wrought-iron archway where the barrier had been, with the words Platform Nine and Three-Quarters on it, They had done it.

When she and Harry got onto the train she saw the woman that helped her talking to her sons. "Ron, you've got something on your nose." The youngest boy tried to jerk out of the way, but she grabbed him and began rubbing the end of his nose. "Mom— geroff" He wriggled free. "Aaah, has ickle Ronnie got somefink on his nosie?" said one of the twins. "Shut up," said Ron. "Where's Percy?" said their mother. "He's coming now." The oldest boy came striding into sight. He had already changed into his billowing black Hogwarts robes, and Amaya noticed a red and gold badge on his chest with the letter P on it. "Can't stay long, Mother," he said. "I'm up front, the prefects have got two compartments to themselves —" "Oh, are you a prefect, Percy?" said one of the twins, with an air of great surprise. "You should have said something, we had no idea." "Hang on, I think I remember him saying something about it," said the other twin. "Once —" "Or twice —" "A minute —" "All summer —" "Oh, shut up," said Percy the Prefect. He sound really annoying"How come Percy gets new robes, anyway?" said one of the twins. "Because he's a prefect," said their mother fondly. "All right, dear, well, have a good term — send me an owl when you get there." She kissed Percy on the cheek and he left. Then she turned to the twins. "Now, you two — this year, you behave yourselves. Those two twins sound like fun though. She and Harry went their own separate ways to find compartments. I walked into a compartment that had one seat left and saw the boy that I had bumped into earlier. "Can I sit here" I asked not very politely. At that the students looked at each other confused at how I was talking to them. "Is that a yes or a no" I asked again getting irritated. " Fine" the blonde boy said. I sat down and pretty soon fell asleep due to me only getting around 5 hours of sleep the night before. A while later I was woken up by some girl who introduced herself as Pansy Parkinson. "You should probably change into your robes" she said with a small smile. After I came back into the compartment I saw that all the boys went to change meaning it was only the two of us. " So what house do you think you will be in" she asked me. "Oh I don't know, I was kind of hoping for Slytherin or Gryffindor.What about you" I replied. "Oh I'm almost a 100% sure that I will be in Slytherin." After a couple of minutes a trolley lady came up and then asked "Anything from the trolley dear?" Me and Pansy both got a few different types of candy. "What are these. I have only ever had muggle candy" " Are you a Muggle-born" she said looking disgusted. " No my parents are dead so I was forced to grow up with my some muggles who don't like me at all." I replied. Me and Pansy started to talk about wizard stuff until the boys came back. When they did they all started to stare at me. "What" I asked somewhat annoyed. "Nothing" A curly brown headed boy said back. Anyways i'm Mattheo, this is my brother Tom and this is Blaise." He announce. "I'm—" The blond guy was about to tell me his name before I remembered that I had promised to meet up with Harry at the end of the train ride. "I have to go sorry, I'll see you all later" I said as I grabbed my stuff and left. After a couple minutes of looking around for Harry I found him and some other boy sitting in a compartment . "Harry there you are" I said. "Amaya where were you" He replied. " Sorry who are you" The red-haired boy who I saw earlier asked me. " I'm Amaya Evans. I lived near Harry's house in the muggle world because my parents died." I replied. " Oh nice to meet you. I'm Ron, Ron Weasley" he said. We talked for around 5 minutes, then the train stopped and it was time to get off. "Alright everyone on to the boats" A voice yelled out. Is that Hagrid? "Hello you two" Hagrid said with a big smile on his face. We got onto the boats. I got into one with Pansy and the Riddle brothers. OMG is that Hogwarts. It is one of the prettiest places ever. The castle is so big and the grounds look ginormous too! Once we got off the boats a different teacher walked up to us. She had on a pointy green hat. " Hello I am Professor Mcgonagall" She said.  "Welcome to Hogwarts," said Professor McGonagall. "The start-of-term banquet will beginshortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. TheSorting is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your house will be somethinglike your family within Hogwarts. You will have classes with the rest of your house, sleep inyour house dormitory, and spend free time in your house common room. "The four houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each house hasits own noble history and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are atHogwarts, your triumphs will earn your house points, while any rulebreaking will lose housepoints. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup, a greathonor. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever house becomes yours." "The Sorting Ceremony will take place in a few minutes in front of the rest of the school."

Then the blond haired boy walked up to Harry and asked "Is it true?" he said. "They're saying all down the train that Harry Potter's here.So it's you, is it?" "Yes," said Harry. "Oh, this is Crabbe and this is Goyle," said the pale boy carelessly, noticing where Harry waslooking. "And my name's Malfoy, Draco Malfoy." Ron gave a slight cough, which might have been hiding a snigger. Draco Malfoy looked at him. "Think my name's funny, do you? No need to ask who you are. My father told me all theWeasleys have red hair, freckles, and more children than they can afford." He turned back to Harry. "You'll soon find out some wizarding families are much better thanothers, Potter. You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there." He held out his hand to shake Harry's, but Harry didn't take it. "I think I can tell who the wrong sort are for myself, thanks," he said coolly. Draco Malfoy didn't go red, but a pink tinge appeared in his pale cheeks. "I'd be careful if I were you, Potter," he said slowly. "Unless you're a bit politer you'll go thesame way as your parents. They didn't know what was good for them, either. You hang around with people like the Weasleys and that Hagrid, and it'll rub off on you." At that he walked away. I felt kind of bad for him so I walked up to him and introduced myself. "Hi I'm Amaya Evans, sorry about him he can be annoying at times" While glaring at Harry every once in a while. "How would you know Evans" he asked. "I lived near his house in the muggle world where I was forced to live after my parents died. I replied. " Oh, well I'm-" " Malfoy, Draco Malfoy" I said mocking him which surprisingly made him laugh. " If you get put into Slytherin which i'm pretty sure you will, then maybe we can be friends." "Maybe we can" I replied with a small smile. "We are ready for you " said a sharp voice. "The Sorting Ceremony Is about to start." Professor McGonagall had returned. One by one, the ghosts floated away through the oppositewall. "Now, form a line," Professor McGonagall told the first years, "and follow me."

 Amaya quickly looked down again as Professor McGonagall silently placed a four-legged stool infront of the first years. On top of the stool she put a pointed wizard's hat. This hat was patchedand frayed and extremely dirty. Aunt Petunia wouldn't have let it in the house. Maybe they had to try and get a rabbit out of it, Amaya thought with a laugh,then noticed that everyone in the hall was now staring at the hat, he stared at it, too. For afew seconds, there was complete silence. Then the hat twitched. A rip near the brim opened widelike a mouth — and the hat began to sing:

"Oh, you may not think I'm pretty,

 But don't judge on what you see,I'll eat myself if you can findA smarter hat than me.

You can keep your bowlers black,

 Your top hats sleek and tall

For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting HatAnd I can cap them all.

There's nothing hidden in your headThe Sorting Hat can't see,

So try me on and I will tell you

Where you ought to be.

You might belong in Gryffindor,

Where dwell the brave at heart,

Their daring, nerve, and chivalrySet Gryffindors apart;

You might belong in Hufflepuff,

Where they are just and loyal,

Those patient Hufflepuffs are trueAnd unafraid of toil

;Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,

 if you've a ready mind,

Where those of wit and learning,

Will always find their kind;

 Or perhaps in Slytherin

 You'll make your real friends,

Those cunning folk use any meansTo achieve their ends.

 So put me on!

Don't be afraid!

 And don't get in a flap!

 You're in safe hands (though I have none)

For I'm a Thinking Cap!"

 The whole hall burst into applause as the hat finished its song. It bowed to each of the four tablesand then became quite still again.
