It was another boring day at school. Ryan sat in Mrs.Milson's class, dozing off. Mrs.Milson was going on a ramble about the English language and how it was created. Although Ryan did speak the language, he didn't really care enough about it to listen.

"Psst, Ryan!" Someone whispered, he turned to see that it was Laura; one of his best friends. "...what?" He muttered, his eyes were half open. "You still didn't tell me the deets!" She complained jokingly, she must've been referring to their "date." "Nothing happened Laura, we just exchanged numbers. That was it."

Laura spun around to take out her English textbook, once done, she opened to page 215. "Textbook, Ryan. And you sound pretty bummed out because it didn't go any further~" she teased. Laura really encouraged the idea of Ryan and Dylan being together. "Mmh," he hummed in annoyance, "Just shut up. Forget he's sitting right next to us?"

Laura waited until her friend was finished retrieving his textbook, "Obviously not- ooh, idea." She cupped her chin with her hand and smirked at Ryan mischievously. He glared at her in response, "Whatever you're thinking, don't." Her eyes moved between Dylan and he.

"You should sit with him at lunch again."
She suggested, "Ooh! Or... you could invite him somewhere." Ryan thought about the idea, it would be nice to take him somewhere instead of it always being the other way around. Dylan had always been making the big moves anyway, like that time he joked about asking for Ryan's number so he could take him out on a date. Or the time he was waiting for Sarah, it was brave of him to try and start a conversation.

The only 'big move' Ryan made was taking him over to the lunch table and giving Dylan his number. If he wanted to take their relationship to the next level, maybe he should start sending signs aswell? "Hm, I guess." He finally said, "But, wouldn't you be lonely?" "Oh, me? No. I have Kaylee, and Max." Ryan curved his eyebrows, confused. "Who's Max?"
He tracked his friend as she blushed, "Oh, he's a guy I met at the store a few weeks ago. We've been talking since then. He's a really nice guy! I should take you to meet him soon."

Ryan half-smiled, "You seem to like him a lot." He teased his friend, even if he was happy that Laura found somebody. "I could say the same about you and Mr.Lenivy." They could mess around with eachother all day if their teacher hadn't caught them. "So, Kearney and Erzahler," their teacher had a habit of calling them by their last name. "Would you like to entertain the class with your conversation?"

Everyone in the class, including Dylan and Kaitlyn, whipped their head around to look in the back, where Ryan and Laura sat. Ryan blushed and covered his face with his textbook, "Sorry Mrs.Milson." Laura apologized aswell.
"And Ryan, since you're so talkative lately, I want you to read page two-hundred seventeen out loud." Mrs.Milson was a nice teacher (for the most part atleast), but she couldn't stand people talking in between lessons.

Ryan silently flipped through the book until he found page two-hundred seventeen. "Uhm.. th-the-" "I could read it, miss." A voice interrupted. Ryan turned to his right, it was Dylan.

My fucking savior. He thought to himself, grateful that Dylan would take his place.
"Hm, I don't see why not, but-" The bell had rang. My savior, savior. Ryan thought again. "I don't want you guys to be late to your next class, but make sure to answer the questions on page two-hundred twenty. I will be taking them for a grade!" She yelled through the crack in the door as the students walked out.

English was always the class before lunch, atleast for Ryan it was. Laura always snuck into her science teacher's class to be with Kaylee. "Well, I'll see ya later. I'm gonna go to science." Ryan waved bye to her, watching her blonde high ponytail swing from side to side as she walked away.

Ryan entered the lunch room, with his earbuds in this time. They were one of the things that made him remain sane while in this room. He sat at his usual table, which was in the back. He normally didn't have anything for lunch, but Dylan was nice enough to buy him and Sarah some blueberry muffins. Ryan took it out of his bag, luckily, it wasn't squished because of the lack of things he had in the bag.

He played a podcast while he ate. It was called "Bizarre Yet Bonafide." In this episode, they were covering werewolves and how they came about. After inhaling the muffin, Ryan decided he would talk to Dylan, since none of his friends were around. He scanned the cafeteria, but Dylan wasn't at the table he usually sat at.

Ryan freaked out a little, if he wasn't at this table, where could he be? He looked around more, until he spotted the iconic swept, neck-length brown hair. The sight instantly calmed Ryan down, now all he had to do was approach him. It would've been easy if Dylan wasn't hanging out with the jocks. The jocks consisted of: Jacob, Nick (he wasn't really a jock, but he was friends with Jacob. So it would make sense he would be at that table), and some other boys Ryan didn't know the name of.

Dylan looked rather happy talking to Jacob, and that bothered Ryan a little bit. Now, Ryan wasn't really the type to come up to large groups of people, but if it meant getting Dylan, he would. So he calmed himself, building up the courage to go up to the jocks; the most loud and obnoxious people of the school.

"LMAO. I can't with you Jacob!" Dylan giggled, "But it's cool!" The other boy replied loudly. Ryan approached the group, his hands behind his back. "H-hey...Vy?" He whispered nervously. The boy ignored him, still laughing at whatever Jacob said to him. This made Ryan feel a pinch sad, but he came up to them and interrupted their conversation, so Vy didn't have to listen to him.

"Holy shit! Is that Ryan Erzahler?" One of the boys sitting at the table yelled.
Yeah? Am I a legend or something? Am I not supposed to be real? Ryan almost said. "Oh! Ryan! What's up? I didn't even see you there." Dylan passed his hand behind his head in embarrassment.

"Oh, well, could you come with me for a second?" Ryan asked nervously. He did kinda feel bad about taking Vy away from his friends, but he had something to do. Vy was about to agree when Jacob interrupted, "Dude! Can't you see he's hanging out with us?"

"Yeah, man. That's kinda rude." Nick agreed. Nick was kind of Jacob's lapdog. Anything Jacob would say, he would agree with. "I was asking him, not you, shithead." Ryan immediately covered his mouth, he was only thinking of saying it, it didn't mean to come out. "Getting feisty now, huh, loner boy?" Nick said.

"Did you just call me a shithead?" Jacob balled up his fist, "If you want a fight, you got it!" Jacob's goons stood on the tables, attracting the attention of everyone in the cafeteria. "W-what? Guys, no, stop!" Dylan tried his best to stop this. He believed violence was not the answer.

"I'm not trying to fight- it just- I didn't mean to-" He took a few steps back. "I'm not trying to fight- it just- I didn't mean to-" Jacob mocked him and danced around, "Just shut the fuck up man!"
The students sent 'oohs' and 'ahhs' their way, agitating Ryan more. "Listen here, you fucking fucker! I simply wanted to speak to Vy. That's all."

"Guys! Just stop, okay? Ryan, come, we can talk no-" Dylan stopped when he felt a tug on his shirt, "Hey, loner boy!" Jacob called out, "If you think going with Vy now'll save you, you're wrong! We're taking this afterschool!" The cafeteria erupted in 'oohs', one person even said "Damn, Ryan is eff, yu, see, kay'D."

Well, fuck. Who knew that wanting to talk to someone will cause so many problems? How will Ryan prepare himself in order to beat Jacob in a fight? Will he even show up? Find out in the next chapter....
