It has been four days. Four days since Jacob Costos, Nick Furcillo, and her older brother had a dangerous, physical altercation. This resulted in terrible things happening, such as Ryan and Dylan being admitted into the hospital, and Jacob plus Nick, being suspended. For a long time, I might add.
Sarah sighed and rubbed her teary, dark-brown eyes. Then she looked at the empty seat next to her. Kaylee, Laura and she were visiting Ryan. Well, technically, only Kaylee and Laura. Since she was only fourteen, she wasn't allowed in the room. So she had to sit outside alone and wait for her two only guardians to finish their visit.
She took out her phone and opened the camera app, scrolling until she found some pictures of Ryan and she. These pictures were taken years ago, and she had got them off of her mom's Facebook page; which was now closed. The sight of the pictures made her cry and miss her brother, her only brother, even more.
It really hurt that Ryan was gone. He might never wake up.
What if he doesn't wake up, and they give up on him?
What if I never get to see him again?
Who will I live with?
Where will I go?
What will I do?
These thoughts invaded her mind, sucking all the hope out of her body. Ryan was the only family she had left. Their grandma passed away from old age, their grandpa passed away from lung cancer, their dad left them, and their mom died from overdose. And now, she was going to lose Ryan too. She hadn't even introduced him to her friends yet.
To Sarah, a life without her older brother was no life at all. They had been through thick and thin together. She blockaded the thoughts of her brother leaving as best as she can. Have hope, she told herself.
"H-hey, are you alright?" A soothing, growly voice asked. Her head jolted to the right. She examined the extremely tall figure before her, then she told him, "N-no.." The boy sat next to her, "You're Ryan's little sister right? Sarah?" She nodded her head. "And... you're Vy?"
Sarah continued to look him up and down, until her eyes stopped at a specific part of his body. His hand, the left one. He must've noticed her staring because he looked down too. Then he chuckled, "O-oh... haha..." Dylan, who had a spark of sorrow in his eyes, smiled. "... That is a result of me trying to protect your brother." His eyebrows drew together, "Speaking of him, where is he?"
Sarah's slightly calmed expression turned into a sad one. "He's...he's..." tears filled her eyes, blurring her vision. "... in.. a coma..." she sobbed at the mention and threw her face into Dylan's chest. Dylan was frozen at the news. "No, no, no! You're lying. You- You gotta be."
The girl remained quiet. "... Ryan? He's... why?" Dylan clutched the fabric of the chair as tears started to form, "I tried.... I tried and- and I couldn't. I always mess up... this is all my fault."
Sarah watched him in confusion, "What do you mean 'this is all you fault'?""... I knew they were going to fight, Sarah. I tried to leave class as fast as I can... but- but I was too late. I saw Jacob, slamming Ryan into a pole... he was backing up, probably to do it again. Once I saw that, I didn't think... I didn't. Even. Think..." he shook his head and sighed, "... I ran, as fast as I could. I jumped infront of him, thinking I would protect him but...."
Sarah tilted her head and ran her fingers across the dried tears on her cheeks, "... but you failed, and it resulted in you hurting your hand?" She answered for him, completely aware that he stopped because he felt bad. "M- mhm..." he wrapped his arms around the girl, ".. I'm sorry that I couldn't... y'know, save him.."
"Dyl...?" His eyes widened at the new nickname, ".. Yeah?"
"Thank you for trying." She said, smiling at the boy. Dylan grinned gratefully and tightened their warm and friendly feeling embrace. They pulled away and stared at the elevator, which was now opened. Two girls came out; one had light brown hair while the other had blonde.
"Vy?!" They both said in unison. "Uhm... h-hi...""... How's Ribs?" Sarah questioned, she wanted the latest update on her brother right this instant. "He's still.. uh, asleep. If that's what you want to call it." Kaylee exhaled when she saw the disappointed look on Sarah's face.
"Let's just go now... I don't wanna see you like this any longer." Laura took the teenager's hand and lead all of them out of the hospital, "Why don't we uh... get something to eat?" She suggested, trying to lighten the mood. The group nodded, and off they went.
Well, this is finally done. The chapter, not the story, I mean. I wrote this in about an hour- I just wanted to add something in between to show and explain what happened a little bit more. Also, I feel very bad for Sarah, imagine losing your only family member... sounds horrible.
Anyway, time for the big question- will Ryan wake up? Or will he stay asleep and be given up on? Find out in the next chapter〜
