secrets

"Okay, spill," Katherine said, approaching Glenn the following morning.

'What?" he replies, acting confused.

"Glenn, I know you" Katherine states.

"Okay?" Glenn continues to play confused.

"I know when you're hiding something" she states, in a matter of fact.

Glenn scoffs, "I'm not hiding anything" he retorted.

"Okay. And I don't believe you, so spill" Katherine said.

"I don't know anything" Glenn denied again.

Katherine sighs, "Glenn, as your best friend, I think I know you pretty well. So, if you don't tell me, then I'll just go find out on my own" she begins to walk away when he grabs her wrist.

"Fine, but you can't tell anyone, I'm serious Kat" Glenn warned her.

"Okay, I won't, jeez" she says, "Promise"

"The barn's full of walkers and Lori's pregnant" he tells her.

"Okay, wow, I was not expecting that" she says, widening her eyes.

"You can't say anything. I promised Maggie and Lori" he tells her.

"I won't say anything, Glenn. But the group deserves to know about the walkers" she says, looking over at the barn that was just meters away from where they sleep.

"I know they deserve to know, but how do you go about telling something like that?" he questioned.

"Just rip it off like a bandaid, do it quickly," she explains, "And, how did you know Lori was pregnant?"

"She asked me to get a test when I went on that supply run, and I just figured it out" he says.

"Shit, what's she gonna do?" Katherine mumbled.

"No idea, but for now, keep quiet. About both things" he told her, "Peaches" he handed her some, leaving to give the rest of the group some peaches.

Katherine looked over at the barn, she thought this farm was safe, that they could potentially live here, but if there's a barn full of walkers, maybe they should leave while they still can. There has to be some place out there for them, somewhere.

Katherine and most of the group, excluding a few, went away from the farm, to practice shooting, so if need be, everyone is prepared. Katherine already knows how to shoot a gun, her father taught her when she was 14, and that knowledge has stuck.

But, she hasn't practiced since then, since the adults at their camp didn't want a 16 year old carrying a gun. However, since she found her own gun, they've been more lenient with her having it to protect herself and the camp if need be.

They were shooting bottles, and Katherine hit everyone, she smirked in satisfaction, feeling accomplished that she was better at something than the majority of the group there.

"Teach me how to do that!" Harlow asked her. She was going to be taught, just like Katherine was, when she hit 14, however, the end of the world hit, so their father never got to teach Harlow like he did her sister.

"I'm not a certified instructor, but you just point and shoot," she told her sister, handing her the gun. Harlow took it and stood in front of Katherine, she held it two hands and pointed it up, aiming for one of the bottles. "Alright, just focus and–" she was cut off when Harlow shot, smashing the bottle, "Wow, okay. Nice!"

Beth, who was watching the sisters' interaction, decided to go over to the sisters, "You're really good," she told Katherine.

Katherine looked at Beth and smiled, "Thanks, my Dad taught me"

"Was he a cop?" she asked.

Katherine shakes her head, "No, he just knew a thing or two about guns. Lucky me, I guess"

"My Daddy didn't like the idea of guns, I'm surprised he even let us come" she confessed.

"The world ended, Beth, one way or another, you need to learn to defend yourself" Katherine told her.

Beth lightly laughs, while looking down at the ground, "Doubt it, I'll never get the hang of this"

Before Katherine could answer, she was interrupted by another voice, "Hey Beth! Come check this out!" Jimmy.

Beth smiled at Katherine, "Bye Kat"

"Bye, Beth" Katherine returned her smile.

Once Beth was gone out of earshot, Harlow turned to her sister smiling wide, "Do you like her?"

"What? No" Katherine stated.

"It's okay if you do, she's nice" Harlow told her.

"It's not how it works, Harls" Katherine whispered to her sister.

"The world ended, who cares?" Harlow stated.

The world ended, who cares. Katherine liked that saying.

This chapter wasn't very eventful, but that's okay because we got Katherine and Beth (my girls)
