INT. HALL / SITTING ROOM OF HOUSE RIVIERE - DAY

Christian enters from the front door. He stands tall and has a tough-guy swagger. He's wearing a black suit with a black and green jacket.

Julyan and Charles follow him (Julyan is wearing a fairytale prince blue jacket, white shirt, and black trousers; Charles, instead, is wearing a loose white shirt, a loose black, a white vest, and black trousers). Muriel opens the door to them.

The hall of house Rivière has white walls with decorative friezes. Among the decorations, there's a tapestry with a picture of Charlemagne on horseback. The parquet is also well maintained, with no scratches. A big brown vase containing collectible sticks is standing on the ground.

CHRISTIAN: So, where is my right-hand man, Frankie?

MURIEL: I thought you'd come here for me...

Muriel greets him with a brief kiss on the lips, but Christian doesn't even look at her face.

CHRISTIAN: So...? We have got some important business to discuss.

MURIEL: He's in the sitting room, trying some clothes on. Hey, listen to this. Yvette and Waldomar got back together. They had broken up because she was too clingy and jealous, but Malie-- (more)

A disinterested Christian whips his head around towards Muriel when the girl says Malie's name.

Julyan and Charles, instead, look a little more interested in the gossip right from the start.

MURIEL (CONT'D): ...said that she saw them together in the square. Isn't it weird? I thought they had broken up for good, but Malie told me I was wrong. Then, yesterday, when we were going to the royal palace, all the men turned around to look at Malie--

Now Christian looks shaken and also a bit hurt.

CHRISTIAN (a bit angry): Excuse me, Muriel, but we must talk to Frank about serious stuff. I can't just stay here and listen to these stupid stories.

MURIEL: I get it. Go to Frank. There's no need to be so nasty!

Christian, followed by Charles and Julyan, goes into the sitting room. He's lost some of his previous swagger.

However, the sitting room is placed just in front of the hall. Frank (who is wearing a slightly long brown jacket and trousers of the same color) is sitting on a brown velvet sofa and is trying on a pair of elegant boots placed on the floor.

In the room, we can mainly notice the brown color. In fact, the curtains are brown, and some embalmed deer and tender fawn's heads are hanging on the white walls. There are also several pictures of the Riviere's ancestors; they are stocky and look like the ogres Shrek and Fiona. Then, there's a big light blue polo team logo. It's the logo of the team that the family supports.

However, Christian bursts out laughing when he notices Frank, but it's a joyless laughter.

CHRISTIAN: Get up, fag. (more)

Frank gets up from the sofa.

CHRISTIAN (CONT'D): The king answered the letter.

FRANK (talking fast, driven by enthusiasm for the news) What did he say?

CHRISTIAN: Blah, blah... He would like to play with us. And blah, blah, blah. Uh, this Saturday he's going to host a ball, and we are all invited.

FRANK: (he smiles) Since the idea was mine, I'd deserve some reward.

CHRISTIAN: No rewards. But yes, you have been proficient and had a good idea. We grant you that, but nothing else.

FRANK: Always granted, but never rewarded.

CHARLES: Which of us is going to ingratiate the king at the ball?

CHRISTIAN: I'm going. You are all inappropriate. No offense. (more)

Charles grimaces.

CHRISTIAN (CONT'D): Anyway, it's time to celebrate. (more)

Christian pours some wine from a bottle into a goblet. The other three imitate him. Then, they all raise their glasses.

CHRISTIAN (CONT'D): LET'S TOAST TO US!

Christian, Frank, Julyan, and Charles toast and sing a song about celebrating and alcohol or a football stadium song.
